I don't know... The rusty staples just spoil it for me. Well, at least they're not through the female body parts.

I like the poster a lot, but then I was a red blooded 18 year old in 1982. Very high side bikini bottoms, too much makeup and big hair were IT, and that car was an ODDBALL at the time, but I loved it then too, just like today.

What is REALLY important here, is that a TRADITIONAL style car will stand up to the test of time. That car looks as DAMN good now as would have in 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992, 2002 or next year in 2012.

And the hot chicks will look different every decade, but I still dig em no matter what!

I've still got a tote full of American Rodders (and about 5 other totes of "rod" rags) out in the shop. Cant bring myself to trash em, cant look at em and cant give em away without the trouble of mailing them halfway around the world!

Still got a VHS tape of cars coming into the gates of Louisville in 94, looks like the easter bunny threwup!! Good times!!

Man I miss the big hair 80's! What a time it was to have been a teenager! Not as good as the 50's and early 60's I'm sure but way better than the 70's!!!! I know I have a photo of my mullet somewhere around here........... Got a little off track there, the OP's poster rocks! Maybe not the best ever but the significance of it makes it a great one for sure.

Thats not a Hong Kong bra. Its a Rawhide bra. It rounds'em up and points'em out,

  9. Ok, who has more pictures of that coupe to post? I have a vague recolection of reading that article and realy digging that car. To me it was totaly different from all the pastel street rods with splash graffics of that time.

  10. This, as the kids say, is the correct answer.

    This makes it impossible.

What's REALLY funny, is that in another 20 years, people will be laughing at the "traditional" cars... just like the 80's cars now. Times change, people change, FADS change. Build what you want, and drive it.

The essence of 'cool' is being yourself, living for yourself, answering to only yourself, and doing your own thing. See the quote below...

American Rodder was published by the people that owned Easy Riders. Same models were used in both books. Great magazine until Buckaroo buried it.

Well, as a hot rod poster it sucks. The car (what is shown) looks good. The chicks remind me of the mindless Reagan years and disco. In '91 almost every car was pastel and I never could get into it. I always stuck to the formula of simple. Yea, I liked to go see the car shows, but the cars I always admired were the simple ones done by the owner.

I don't have a traditional ride, but I know traditional cars aren't a fad. The word "traditional" doesn't even apply to the cars that this website caters to. They're hot rods. Plain and simple. The fads came when people started building cars that they thought would fit into molds built by the media of the time. The TRUE hot rodders hung on to the roots and never let go.

And after writing that.... the poster is a grime reminder that if people don't hang on to what they believe, they are doomed (like that BIG hair)to be "in one day and out the other".

This was the first one that jumped to my mind as well.

Also, pretty much anything by Weesner is up there too.

    You forgot the grime!

<table cellspacing="5"><tbody><tr><td>grime (gr[IMG]m)n. Black dirt, soot or Filth, especially such dirt clinging to or ingrained in a surface.

    </td></tr></tbody></table>

Your history needs improving. Disco died by the late 1970's , and in 1991 Reagan wasn't president - Bush was ! And in 1991 Chicks like that were the "In thing" .

Back to the car , American Rodder, and 1991. Not a whole lot of guys ran around in a "traditional Hot Rod" like this. At the time my ol pal Rudy Rodriguez owned it, then sold it to another ol pal Robert Lomas. It changed hands until the wrong person got a hold of it, then, I hunted it down, bought it, blew it completely apart and restored it to its late 50's glory.

Is it the worlds best Hot Rod poster? definitely not, but at the time many of my pals and I had the poster on our garage walls.

Thanks that was a good explanation. Not so impossible after all! Older hoodlums can educate the young crowd when they want. ;)

Hell, I loved the 80's big hair and all!! Reminds me of a Snap On wall clocks or the ridgid tools posters of the time. Not the best hot rod poster of all time but I would hang it in the back bathroom at the shop!!!!
I really like the full hubcaps on this coupe.
