Too close to home, street rodders need to stick together, get on the ball and pay the hell attention to whats goin on in the parking lots across the U.S. Rent-a-Cops cant do the job lets do something for ourselves. Shame someone put all that time and money into something to have it ripped off by a *uck*ead theif.

We REFUSE to stay in any hotels at out of town events any more.......too much of this stuff is happening. Hotel security is non existant, and it looks like they also have no video survailance either.

This is WAY out of hand.:mad:

Only way to stop this BS, is to form your own security with armed & licensed street smart gunners. Look at the fear Mexico has of the cartels.
Meet thievery with sudden death results. It dosen't take but a millisecond for the word to get around in the right places in this day of electronics.
There is absolutely no room in our country for vermin such as this to be allowed to breathe the same air as respectable people do.----"LETS ROLL"

This Blows, I saw some secret shots of this car as it was being built. After looking at the news item I'd be looking closer, HOTEL STAFF closer. No camera's and the management saying it hasn't happened before but the cops say it has, 12 TIMES.
Everyone is looking at who is coming in off the street, but who's looking behind?
    Hope he gets it back.

    Scotty.

  8. sounds like the hot rod community is going to have to start their own "guardian angels" and start keeping watch on the cars in the lot...and being willing to put the fear of God into ANY individual that attempts to relieve a car from it's owner/guardian..

Having had the experience myself of losing a car, I sure sympathize. Mine was stolen at the GNRS host hotel in Pomona last January. Nothing has ever turned up on mine. It ****s.

And didn't Troy have a truck, trailer and high doller car stolen just a year or so ago also - aside from the F350 they took here?

  11. At one of the shows I attend regularly we contacted a retired State Trooper to stand guard in the lot overnight. We blocked one entrance/exit to the back lot with a truck & trailer (with the hotel's permission) and the Trooper sat in his personal car at the other access. We each threw in $10 and he was instructed "No one leaves between 9 PM and 8 AM........ for ANY reason". Enclosed trailers, open trailers and driven vehicles, ..... it didn't matter. Everyone knew they were 'locked in' overnite, and that they were on their own after 8 AM. Damned cheap insurance in my opinion.

Guys not again! I have said this before and people think I am way off. A while back a fellow told me he had "buyers" for bikes and unique vehicles
for ready cash. I know this fellow has extensive conections in the milldle
east. A couple of years ago there was a big bike rally here in the New Orleans area and several trucks, trailers and many bikes were stolen over the course off a weekend. These vehicles may be leaving the country in shipping containers for parts unknown. There have been many high end drag racers and rigs stolen as well. How can all these unique vehicles and parts disapear and very seldom is even a trace or a part found. The hot rod and race community is close knit and you would think some thing would turn up sometime. I know some guys that sold legitimate vehicles
for inflated prices that were sent to the middle east. May be time to think outside the box as they say.

So in this day and age is there no way to disarm a truck so it won't start? If it doesn't start they can't steal it. Just hope people start learning that you can't trust anyone , anymore and be better prepared for this kind of thing. Hope all ends well and somebody takes something away from these kind of stories. What a wonderful world this is turning into !

Good idea and cheap insurance as you say. My brother works for our sheriffs department does security overnight once a week at a local country club & golf course. Too many idiots were out trashing the course & screwing with the property late at night. Got some guys with authority & some weapons & sh*t came to a halt.

No Good Lazy M-EFFERS ! Hope they catch them and castrate them ! Nothing worse getting your car jacked , lost a Trans Am that way , from a "protected" lot . Hoping you get it back .

  21. I can almost guarantee you that none of those stolen Hot Rods leave the Country, at least not in shipping containers. U.S. Customs and Homeland Security inspect all containers and demand to see valid ***les for all vehicles. Look closer, guys, seems to me those are local thieves.
(Also, interest in American Hot Rods is at an all-time low in the Middle East . . . . )

    I am NOT a thief ..
So I do not think like a thief ...

But WHY bring the trailer back. ???

    I understand the stealing. :(
I do not understand bringing the trailer/truck back.

Unfortunately, this 3W is most likely hidden in a enclosed trailer and headed out of the country. I believe IF I had a vehicle that is worth what this coupe should be ( $$$ money wise ) ... a GPS unit would be on it.

Hope the guy gets his coupe back.

WRONG..........only su****ious ones, go visit a port and see how many come and go, there is NO way to look inside all of them, most contents are listed as general freight.

    Hope they find the car...

There are plenty of ways, just have to put them to use, I could give you the keys to my daily driver and you wouldn't be able to drive it away, tow it, maybe, but not DRIVE it

First off I really feel bad for the owners of this beautiful car! I think a lot of us know how they feel. I know for sure that when I travel with my ride (and it is nothing special) I secure it, disable it, club it, and kill it everytime I walk away from it. My friends laugh at me but if something is not bolted down it migth be gone when you get back. Things are really tough in your country right now and ours too. People need money and when you put someones back to the wall they do stupid things. I hope they find the cars. Hopefully the owners are pro-active Good luck my American friends.

Jason called me just now and said he has the car back in his possesion! The Indiana State Police working off a tip found the coupe abandoned in a really rough part of town at 12:30 last night.

The cops say they think the crooks were after the truck and think when they found the car in the trailer, they panicked and dumped the car. They still can't figure out why they brought the truck/trailer BACK to the hotel?

They sprayed Pledge or something all over and inside the car to hide their fingerprints, but the cops think they know who they are. The car doesn't have a scratch on it.

    YAY!!

The bad news is that Jason can't compete for Goodguys Hot Rod of the Year award, but who cares?
