Well I was on my way home on Tuesday from school, and about 5 miles from home I was on the freeway and my transmission went out on my '88 GMC Sonoma S15 extended cab truck. I knew it was going to happen sometime, I was just hoping taht it would have lasted a few more months. I'm kind of glad it finally happened though. It was going to be my 1st project as I am going to school for an A.S. Degree for Autobody Collision Repair and Refinishing. Now I can save the money the Sonoma was costing me in fuel to save for something more better to my liking. Now what to get???? I have a friend that has something I have been wanting for a few years that he more than likely will not be doing anything with. Now to see if he has it still. It's a 1963 GMC Ice Cream Truck. I have been thinking of what I could do to it since the first time I saw this thing. But, if he doesn't have it anymore, I plan on finding myself an real Chevy or GMC truck. I really miss my '48 Chevy Panel, so I want to look for that style of truck. Now to get the money to get it!
Well I guess if you had an ice cream truck and you were here you could make a rolling methlab out of it. Do you mean an ice cream truck like in a van with a cooler or ice cream truck like in a milk truck lookin' thing. I would save my cash and get something that I could tool around in and pick up chicks. if you try to pick up chicks in an ice cream truck we are going to be hearing about it on the news for sure.
Well porknbeaner, for where I live, a rolling Meth Lab would be a great money maker. You're Funny! Anyways, here is the body style of the one I'm looking to get, but with some differences to the one in the picture. The one I'm looking at has a grill from a 48-55 Chevy truck, and the doors are piano hinged, not sliders. I have some great ideas for it that will come in handy as hobby photographer. Plus I wouldn't really want it be an Ice Cream Truck anyways. It would be a great fun project. But I may just get the 48-55 truck instead.
guess the big part is how deep is your wallet and type of skills and having something to use as daily driver
Theres an old guy who tools around in an ice cream truck like that everyday around here. If i were you, however, i would get the "real" truck, more style than novelty.
I have an '07 Honda Civic that I will be using for my daily driver. The Ice cream truck will be turned into a multi-use project if I do get it. I'm getting rid of the Sonoma since I don't want it sitting in the street until I get around to fixing it. I think I will end up just saving my money and getting the truck I would prefer to have.
I would be looking for a transmission and a good book on preventive maintenance. If you want another car you should by my 85 Suburban for as little as $8,000 cash
