It's no secret that Denise knows of EVERY cruise night in Michigan, and tonight she asked DirtyT and I to join her and Beatnik in a caravan from her crib to the Redford VFW hall parking lot a few miles away.

Lotsa cars on hand when we first arrived, mostly musclecars and such, but we managed to work our way into one corner and set up camp! The crowd descended upon our group and people commented on our "unfinished" cars all night long!

(I got tired of telling people my car WAS finished...although there were a few there that 'got it', and that was cool!)

One older dude was checking out my 49 and said that he had a 48 Buick at home that was all rusty, but driveable. He said he wished he'd driven it there after seeing my heap.

    (Thanks...I think?!:D )

I told him that he oughtta bring it next time...no point in leaving your cool car HOME just cuz it ain't a show car! He says he'll be motoring it up there next week!

DirtyT's Space Herpie baffled alot of the folks there..."How does it move sitting on the ground like that?" or "Why is it so low?". This, amid the usual "Hey! Is that a Merc?!" questions, of course!

We even managed to work on some guy driving a slammed 62 Chevy wagon to con him into registering here on the HAMB! There's ALWAYS room for more GMBs, so we began his Initiation Ceremony right on the spot!

(He winced at the sight of the pink fur coat, and gulped when we handed him the Plenty Horny...er, I mean The Horn Of Plenty...but he breezed through the process with minimal agony and satisfied our deviant scrutiny just fine!!)

One of the dudes that organizes the cruise asked us back again and told us to bring friends with similar cars next time! No shit...a genuine invitation!

(Seems this "rat rod" thing is gettin' pretty big...and they wanna give the public a good helping of it, I gathered!!!)

We posed for a few group shots of us and our rides while some geriatric stoners burned one in their Mega Van, and some of our own got a little carried away with the whole modeling poses...

:D Trust me, if I said Earl Schieb's name once this past 3 weeks, I've said it a hundred times. You should see the look on folks faces when I do tell them his "name". Then of course I have to explain it's is "nickname" in our group and I then proceed to tell them his "real" name and go into details about his shop etc.

A few of my local friends that will be attending Billetproof are really looking forward to meeting him. Folks can't say enough nice things about the body and paintwork. I'm starting to think I was driving around a POS the way they are going on and on about how awesome it is now.:D

That was a pretty good show Yesterday..It was nice to finally meet up with some of you guys, even if it was only for 20 min. There is also a new show going on over in Westland at the "PaPa Joes" bar on ford road. It's on Ford road just east of Wayne road. There were a lot of jalopy's and hot rods at this show last night.

I absolutely loved that Black roadster. It is what I would call a perfect rod....

I was also quite suprised at the amount of positive comments that I was hearing about all of our cars from the old timmers and muscle car boys at the VFW show.

I've known the owner Joe and his wife Iris my whole life. Good family friends. He's got a stable of very cool cars himself. The GMB "gang" will invade soon!:D

  24. Is the guy with the wagon named Chris? I may know him if it is...

    Thanks for calling. :D

I'll make it out yet, this year, maybe...

Maybe yous should publish your show schedule so all the fans will know where to find your gang (or avoid it like the plague) on any give evening.
    I knew the Redford-tucky moniker was ill-deserved.

You should all make your way out to Royal Oak and show your cars next to our Bentleys and Lamborghinis.

Beatnik and I were in Royal Oak a couple of Saturday nites ago in his roadster then hit Woodward. hung out at the Shell station across from Duggins. Maybe the GMB's should invade RO on bike nite..... is it still Wednesday nites?? If we plan something will you "lurkers" show your faces??? ;)

My wife and I hardly ever go downtown now that we have a little girl. But, I think bike night is still Wed. I'll stop up to the Shell if y'all are there. And then you can laugh at my little VW if I get it running again. Or better, my buddy would probably be up for bringing out his 50 Fleetline. Next Wednesday then?

yea i like the royal oak idea thats only 10 min from my house not an hour and half taking side roads. but i thought bike night was thursdays??? but fathack convinced me to take my car on the freeway for the first time tonight. it did fine i dont know what i was worried about. so now it will only be an hour ride to the west side now.:D

Bike night is Wed and Thursday...at it's height. It's basically an all week thing, now. Seems anytime I got up to main after 7 P.M., the streets are littered with bikes...

If you make it a thing in R.O., I'll show up in...something...the Merc isn't ready yet (but Fathack has made me want to get it running now.)

No kidding- that Shell is like 5 minutes from my place. You guys can come raid my place if you need a pit stop along the way! Sorry, no fur coats over here, but I got rainbow-colored lights in the garage.

I'd be down for meeting around these here parts (not that Redford is far away, lol). This is some good motivation to get out to the garage and get to work...
