Hi ThingyM, For quite a while I have wanted to start a thread that says "Closed for the weekend". Now, how is your build going? I almost wanted to start some kind of controversy, just for a little action. But at the same time, I want to be correct. You know how it feels in an argument when you realize that you are wrong?

It's either race day, or it's not, I'm guessing "not".

    Well ......

For me, the float's taking over my life as usual this time of year. Presently up to four days a week, and facing a really **** road test this coming Saturday. I'll be happy to leave it all behind this time.

Also, I got "gigged" on my cage at Famoso (yes, the same one that was OK'ed before I put it on, and has been OK for two years), so can't go back 'til I change it. Thus, going to Eagle Field for this years last meet. Too bad, as I'm fourth in the Open Wheel standings (couldn't possibly catch Danny, but might've lucked into a second place).

Working out the details of a major re-design of my car for next year. As this'll be my last parade, come February I'll have the time to hammer out a long standing dream.
Curse you Rocky, you've set me a very bad example indeed.

Don't believe him Rocky...He's never needed a bad example, he does fine all by himself. :p

I have to move the front hoop forward 'till I get the 3" (in driving position) spacing. Problem is I won't then be able to get in or out of it unless I change something else as well (most likely the dash and knee bars). You recall the mock-up I had OK'ed by Joe, right. :(

Are you going to use galvanic shocks to bring that thing to life? :D

They're getting flak from NHR(effing)A for several of the Open Wheel cars.

Yeah, I turned in a pair of killer 13.6's, the blood's still on the track.
    Hell, I haven't managed a 12 since that lonely 12.9 in '09.

Obviously, I need 10 sec specs.

Hi Joe.. Well as far as my build with my HAMBster, It came to an abrupt hault.. I messed up my knee again..DRs say it will have to be replaced soon.. So in a few weeks I will have another Bionic part in my body.(3).And while they are at it, They will straighten my leg also(From a previous accident) So then I'll have some recovery and therapy time. So sometime around December I might be able to get back to work on it..Also need to do some rehab on the Fiat. I didn't know I had so much to do untill I retired.. BTW.. Did all the Velcro come off of the downunder guys shoes, And fall off the face of the earth too.??

ooppsss, don't know what happend there, the velcro is still attatched. I was in your neck of the woods a few weeks back, went to the HAMB drags and caught up with the OKKIE boys, just ran out of time in California to catch up there. Maybe next time. Nursing a spinal injury right now, was supposed to race last weekend but couldnot even sit in my car. Had let the other have all the fun. Nigel.

    my build is slo.
not yet behind schedule but slo.
i am still sortin and gatherin. i also have to eat, so im doin these things between jobs.
i will finish mine come whatever because i want to and im not scared of a little bracket racing. and i know with a few mods to the seating, i can add lights and body and hit the street. may do some of that anyway.

do i think its time to play the death march?
    no i do not.
but i do think it is time for ryan to promote the cl*** he introduced us to. i think this cl*** should be the signature cl*** at the HAMB drags, and should be promoted accordingly.

if Ryan doesnt see it that way, then things will be pretty much like they are now. until it withers and dies, as a cl***, from lack of support.

i hope Ryan gets enough positive feedback to want to push the cl*** to the forefront of the HAMB drags.
shoot him a pm and tell him what you think.
maybe it will make a difference.

Just have one thing to say that if this cl*** or cars are going to continue to grow racers will need to support the venues that have tried to help get it started and growing.
    Just rember Safety is foremost.

I agree. Hope to be back at the ANRA meets next year, soon as I can get my car changed to the new enforcement. My cage is once again no longer acceptable, but that's the way it goes, changes are a fact of life.

  26. G'day Butch,
Thanks for you on going support, appreciate the effort it takes to embrace and encourage what is a little understood cl***, thanks again,

    HA/GR is not dead.

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)

Well been off board a few weeks as i just returned from trip back east to see my 3 grandsons play football and my granddaughter play soccer & baseball in Michigan, USA. Great trip, they keep this "old grampa" feeling young, love them all.

Will get back to the SDRA car this week and hope to finish the steering and front end setup. Need to get down to (ThingyM) to pickup a few parts and with any luck should have car a complete roller by the end of month.

Butch, I am working as fast as this great 100 deg summer will allow. It don't help a bit to run a fan in this garage shop as it just pumps out 100 deg wind.:) We will be there supporting the ANRA races next season and will try to be on my best behavior.

Good racing and building to all the HAMBsters (HA/GR & SDRA) out there and hope to be racing in 2012.

As the season winds down is sounds like some guys are revising their cars while others are opting for new body parts for themselves. New cars and groups of cars are popping up around the country.

Personally, I have the retro trailer built and the '40 Plymouth truck is done enough to use as a tow vehicle. I have all the new engine parts for the slant 6 and the machine work is done. Unfortunately this iteration will be pretty mild, a stepping stone. The engine will be ***embled this winter along with more carbs to support it. The car missed the last two summers while I waited for the engine machine work and I got involved in other projects. Now, I need to sell a car to finance the remaining work on the dragster and the tow truck.

Next year I pledge to park the Crosley and concentrate on the HA/GRa.

With the demise of the Tulsa Dragstrip, what are you SDRA guys going to do?
