I'm not feeling it. It needs fenders and a hood.

When I look at that Zephyr, I get all kinds of ideas. I kinda looks like Topolino or a VW and if you were to use the front of the Zephyr as the rear of a coupe???

Hmmm. I have to agree that a fenderless Zephyr doesn't do it for me but I'm interested to see what you come up with.

Bad***, wow! I don't think you have to eat ****, 'cause I seriously doubt it's been done, bro. The Twin-H Hornet, yes (though they're scarce), but the Hudson straight eight, haven't heard of one I can remember! Maybe you could poll Hudsonator, StudHud and some of those guys?

I love to see unusual combos that work. If you pursue this idea, PLEASE do a build thread.:D

That eight was a mannerly mill for the senior cars. But COULD it become a bit of a tiger? This is intriguing, and I wonder how far it can be pushed, safely.

You've got a 254 CID L-head with five mains, so it would SEEM it could withstand more than the 4,200 rs it was rated at. Maybe the Hudson guys know more about the bearing possibilities. It was rated 130 hp with a Carter 2B and only 6.5/1 comp, so maybe the right valves, 7.5/1 ratio and a fabbed intake and exhausts?

I'll bet HotrodPackard would have some tricks that could be applied to the Hudson eight :)eek:???).

I wasn´t too sure about this, but I was intrigued enough to do quick photochop. Looks like you´ll need to push the wheelbase out even further and you are right about needing some big-*** tyres! I might consider 16" wheels even. I´d run a hood though, for sure. It helps give the thing some shape.

Why not go all out and cut the rear door out and shorten the whole body?

As a general rule, fat fendered cars w/o fenders are very tough to make "work". James D: how about photoshopping your rendering (shortening the car and using the curved upper window frames of the rear doors for the rear of the new coupe doors-similar to a 36 Ford) into a coupe both with and without fenders?? It would be a "sloper" like was built in Australia.

I don´t know how much work the OP is up for, (although I guess he isn´t too worried about taking on a big job!) but hows this - shortened the body and lengthened the doors and then chopped the top. Doesn´t take long to say it anyway. :)

I did one of these as a sloper years ago...

I dig that first photoshop. The one with all fur doors, I'd off the hood too, just because you can.

heck sounds different anyhow , that hudson would make a cool road boat as it is , where you dragged those two projects out looks like there is more tin treasure there also , i will follow this build because it has a straight 8

Contact Merv Adkins out of Pomona Ca. Largest early Lincoln parts dealer on the West Coast. He's helped me out with a ton of Zephyr parts over the years.
