Last month we had some stormy weather and had some branches come down. I cut them up and put them by the road. Later an 82 year old neighbor from up the street stopped to take the wood, so I helped him load it. He remarked that he always sees me working on my cars and thought I'd be the perfect guy to buy his son's 31 coupe. They got the car 40 years ago and started a resto but never finished. The entire ch***is & drivetrain was rebuilt and painted. The body work was done but never finished painted. His son would start it every year and drive it around the yard. The car was at his son's place about an hour away. My Dad & I went and checked it out and made a deal. The car has new steel fenders, a new stock style interior still in the boxes, plus alot of extra parts. There were a few patches put in, they were leaded, although there are a few spots I may redo. The body is really straight. We had it running today and drove it back & forth in the driveway.
Now what to do with it. I really want a fenderless car on a 32 frame. I was thinking of swapping the steel fenders onto my 31 Pickup which has gl*** fenders. Maybe sell the entire stock ch***is and build a flathead v-8 for it. Have a OT 67 Nova project to finish up so I have time to ponder the direction. Here's some pictures, plus one when they got it.

Glad you were able to get the car, hope to see the progress once you get working on it.

  5. See what happens when you give selflessly. You end up with three times as much coming back to you. Well done.

Haven't decided on a chop yet, it'll be mild if I do, I think proportionally it would look so much better. It is nice to start with a nice solid car, that was the biggest motivator when i seen the car. I'll do a build thread once I start on it. Already read all the threads on pinching or not pinching 32 rails, so much good information here.
I also got a Clay Smith 2722 flathead V-8 cam with the parts, anyone know what the specs are?
