  1. Well for the guys that like the way it sits now....It's gona stay that way for a lil while till I sell my other two cars. Then I'm going to rip into it.
In the mean time I'm gonna paint it a different flat color for now (not black). It should look good enough till I can get it done right. I'll post up a tease once I start....the paint should be here in 5-8 business days

  2. Looks great Steven.
I had a buddy in highschool that had a '55 with Nomad style rear wheelwells, tube axle in front and a max wedge stuffed half way into the firewall, scary fun ride !

  3. Wop speaks the truth! I drive mine all over the country. The yeller car in my avatar!

I was in the Army in Arizona with a guy from Texas named Willy Fietz. WEilly always said he was from a town called No Trees, Texas. We alweays thought he was kidding.....but after looking at your pictures I wonder if he was.

I was there when you were "test driving the car" on LSR friday we(prev owner) were wondering if you had driven 3 on tree before.. I looked hard for a year for decent 55. Most in the $2000 to 4000 are rough at swap meets. In Jan I finally got one. Found one that had been sitting since 68, a bel air post, NOS fenders. Originally I wanted to do the gasser thing too. The more I looked at the car the more I thought Im not going to cut this one up. Had some friends nudge me I better not as well. I've got 2 parts cars as well now so Im just going to look out for a hull and make that gasser. I still got the gasser bug I just know there are plenty of candidates. Besides I have junked out surbuban that has a 454 that needs a home.
You could gather your gasser parts and who knows maybe another 55 will come up and you can keep driving this one as you build your gasser.

that stance is damn near perfect add a set of chrome reverse, remove the name and enjoy it.

  8. davidh.......ya I had never driven a 3 on the tree before that day! I felt like an ass!! lol! I got the hang of it by the end of the weekend though.

I could use one of those NOS fenders now! I backed into the '55 today with my work truck....toasted the passenger side front fender.....I'm SOOOO mad at myself....oh well...better now then when it's all pretty.

Love the stance as is! If this is going to be a track car, go Gasser. If you plan to drive it more than this, go LOW

  11. Finally got some work done on the car. Got the interior and glass all taken out. It's amazing how much easier a solid car comes apart. I felt like a had to battle with every nut and bolt when I built my '56.

I can't help but agree with 48 Chevy, Farmer sleep on it and drive the piss out of it and it will grow on you as it is ...you've scored a very nice car and it would be a shame to turn it into a gasser, and I am one hell of a fan of gasser's ......besides look at the smile on that little guy's face, he love's it just as it is....just my 2 cents worth.

    Any updates on this car

  18. Curious to see how this turns out...

  19. Updates......not quite....I've got to finish gutting the car, then when I visit Austin in December for the Revolution, I'll be taking the car to A.S.S. for suspension and a few body mods. I'll hopefully start a build thread once it is there.

  20. I was thinking about having Rocco and the guys at the shop save me the cut out pieces as a souvenir for the shop wall.....good conversation piece for the haters

I'm sorry but this day in age I still can't see a guy taking what could be a damn good all around car and paying serious money to turn it into something that will probably see three hundred miles a year on the street at most while it spends the rest of the time on the trailer going to rod runs because it is such a pain in the ass to drive on the road. Your money and your car and it looks like you already have the tow rig and trailer so I guess that works.

  22. Your car and money so do as you please, but this seems to be one step forward and two steps back. Not a hater but not a liker either. To each his own.

  23. I never figurered there would be so many people on the HAMB that would not be for a project like this. I'm not changing my mind for no one, I'm gonna build the car I want. I live 55 miles to the nearest city, so it will be driven. So considering every time I go some where it will be driven at least 110 miles.....I hope to use it more than three times a year Mr48Chev.

If you notice, he did mention he will be putting a 6-speed in it. He had explained to me that he knew he would be needing the OD for those trips and I very much so agree. It might not be traditional but I would rather see him put a 6-speed in it and drive it regularly than put a 4-speed in it and trailer it.

Now, Farmer, where's that Norwell rendering you promised us? :D

IMO gasser it for sure and cut the quarters. The picture with the slicks pushed against the body is just so cool. I think when you tub a 55 and leave the stock wheelwells they look tubby somehow and slabsided.

There is a silver 55 gasser running around town here, straight axle, slicks, 4 gear, BBC, black tuck and roll, etc. Every time I see it driving around it makes me smile...............gassers are just the best. They are just so animated.

Great car you have there to start with.
