I have been trying to figure out how to attach this:

I have thought of glue, solder, and cannot figure out a way to do it.

My last idea was to drill tiny holes in the rad shell and use stainless safety wire to hold it on.

Anyone have any ideas that will not involve me drilling into an 80+ year old rad shell?

make a perimeter frame for the wire, and stand it off the core of the radiator very close to the shell , but not touching it, just a bit larger then the opening of your shell, (behind it)

I see places in that picture where you could mount it to the side of your radiator with stand offs

That sounds easy enough. I could weld some small brackets on the back of the frame and use it to bolt to the rad.

    hmmm

Hey Keep...the expanded metal insert that was in the Chevy rad shell on my Es*** was "glued" into place with silicone sealant. Seemed to work fine, just didn't look very good.

Since we're jerry rigging, cut your pattern 1/2" larger that the grill opening, if you want to peak the center, form that over the edge of a table, you want it to lay flat against the backside of your grill shell, 4 globs of clear RTV sealant, lay a few bricks on the edges to hold it flat. 24hrs. later that sh*ts not coming off!!, You could rattle can the panel or powder coat it any color before you stick it down too. 2 centavos

They make 1" X 1" peel and stick bases for doing wiring and using wire ties. Maybe a series of these on the backside of the shell and wire or wire tie the insert to it. GEEZ now I feel like McGiver.

I ended up building a frame out of 1/16 aluminum folded over the edges and then I bolted it to the shell 1/8 inch off the edges. Looks nice and is pretty damn solid.
