Bought this '68 Avenger on Saturday because I loved the wheels on it. They look like Raders, but they have a steel outer band and an aluminum inner. My next guess was Cragar GT's, but my friend Mike has a couple of those and says these are different. Any idea? Also, I know the car isn't exactly "traditional hot rodding" but I couldn't resist showing a picture of what the wheels came on. Bonus, you can see in the background a sneak peek at the super clean '64 Olds Ninety-Eight I just got. When I get it off the trailer, I'll post some pics of it.
I've heard of Fenton, but never of Hawks. Any chance you have a picture of one? I'm trying to decide if I want to take the wheels off the car and sell it with some junk rollers. Would be nice to know what kind of wheels they are. Would they be marked anywhere?
they make me think of fentons also maybe one called the indy or some goofy name like that so how much for the fiberglass monster & is it VW? damn you just keep getting stuff i want to buy dude
Original Raders for a V********n were two-piece, aluminum center, riveted to a steel outer rim. They also should be marked.
Wow that Avenger is incredibly fantastic!!! You just can't buy that kind of cool everyday. Those are indeed Fenton "HAWK" rims, or a fascimilie put out by the JC Whitney corp. I gave one away a long time ago. Dan Collins has(had) them on his 58 chev truck.
Definitely not Cragar GT's. I have a set of 14 inchers with center caps. The GT looks like a cross between a an early American Racing TorqueThrust and a Cragar SS. -Bigchief.
Definantly Fenton Hawks. I have a beat up pair on my '56. I wasn't sure what they were when I bought them, but I found a picture of them in an ad in a 1966 Hot Rod magazine.
I have a pair that looks just like those but they don't say Fenton or Hawk on them. All they say is "SHORE--CALNEVARING PARAMOUNT CALIF" and "ALCOA" which is probably just the aluminum supplier. Any ideas who these guys were?
I also have a pair of wheels very similiar that say nothing. They are 15 inch 5 on 4 1/2 and the centers are welded to the rim.
I think ALCOA is a wheel brand, somebody should look that up. And I can see adapters to the big Vdub pattern behind those wheels.
I agree that they are Fentons...I've been trying to get some for awhile now...So if anybody has a complete set please they would like to get rid of...hit me w/a pm!....Thanks... The car is kool...keep it and do something kool with it...You dont see too many of them anymore.. Dirty
