Projects Suggestions for taillights..49 Chevy SD.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldfart, Sep 20, 2011.

  1. The taillights on the sedan delivery are Walmart trailer lights..The holes that they are in are very rusty.
I have thought about going back to originals with the stancions.Or maybe a 40 Ford style. What would you use?

You might take a look at some Harley tail lights, finding a used pair of the same model may be rough!

.My all time fav. for tail lights are 49-50 Lincoln. There was a guy around here who put a set in his delivery and they looked great.

  7. Lots of little, round lights that aren't bad to find out there. '56 Dodge would work. '60, '61, or '65 Chevy, or early Corvair could be adapted to it. '58 Impala or station wagon. Or something like '38 Olds or '39 Chevy set up at the belt line.

I'm using a set of 49 Plymouth tailights on my 49 Poncho SD...can't remember what model exactly, but the curve on the base is pretty much exact and I think they look pretty cool...Sorry, don't have any pics to explain.

'41 Studes mounted in the trailing edge of the fender would be hard to beat!
    (Remove/move the bumper guards.)

Costly, but available re-pop from HAMB'er alchemy. If you can do your own bodywork, frenched re-pop lenses would be less expensive, but still cool.
