I gots me an idea for a paint scheme and need some help with my vision. Anyone have some pics of WW II era fighters or bombers w/custom paint? Especially interested in nose art. Thanks.

Check this link to the Collings Foundation website in Stow. MA
    http://www.collingsfoundation.org/tour_b-24j.htm

The home page is www.collingsfoundation.org, where you can also find a listing of their incredible car collection.

I've organized a group tour to this place on Saturday, June 4th if any New England area HAMB'ers are interesed in joining us. Sorry, the larger planes are not at the Stow facility.

I still need a few people signed up to make their minumum of 40 people. Cost is $15 per person, which includes the tour and coffee & donuts. Pre-registration and payment are required, so please send me a PM or email to rwilson88@verizon.net if you're interested.
    thanks

Some of you guys may have seen this.
Rod Hadfield is somewhat of a legend round these parts (depending on who you talk too i think;)), but this v12 merlin powered '55 chev sports coupe is insane.
Thought the paint might be appropriate....

And it is fully street legal - that's insane here in Aus - anyhow that's another story.

    enjoy

here is a great site... just lost a friend who survived 30 missions as a tail gunner. Died at 86. The pilot of his plane "sweet 17" is the last survivor left. Look it up...cool stuff![IMG]

any way to link pilots to planes?

I'd like to see what my grandfather flew...find out more about him and what not. I know a little...but not much.

I saw an excellent book the one day, devoted exclusively to nose art. GReat pics. Someday I mean to get it, but check out your local Barnes or Borders, for it. Can't remember the name but there aren't too many books on nose art so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

What kind of ideas Pete? I'm painting my B-32 Bomber 3W Olive Drab. Are you going for the aircraft theme too? Larry

Well that sure is an understatement! Take lots of pics and report back!

I'm going to Thunder Over Michigan in August at Willow Run. SEVENTEEN bombers are going to show up! That's unheard of.
