Seems I can get a good FREE 5 speed from a '97 S10, only thing is it's not called a T5, its something else. Just a renamed T-5, or a whole different animal? I'd like to know before I pass on it. I need a T-5 for my 59AB flattie. Thanks!
Yes different,it's a NV 3500 type tranny. The bellhousing and tranny are one piece making it suitable only for the 4 cylinder and or the 4.3 V6 and SBC engine.
Would a NV 3500 bolt up to a 84' 350 or inline six? Not tryin to steal the thread but have been wonderin this same swap myself. Thanks.LB
I have a S10 tranny here, I also have a SBC. I may try to see if they mate up this weekend..... The s 10 trans I have is also for sale.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Venture_Gear_3500_transmission The NV3500 for '96 has an itegral bellhousing would fit 4.3 Chevy V6 or Chevy V8 Those are a desireable trans and selling it could get you the T5 you really need and probably the adapter needed to install behind the flathead. Read what Flathead Ernie here on the HAMB has written about T5 conversions. His work will save you a lot of headaches.
