More great slides from my uncle's (nuke-at-night)collection. I believe these were shot at the Allentown airport in 1956.
A few more. I think that's it from this batch. I love the one of the dude holding on to the shifter in his maroon roadster.
Very cool, must have been a very expensive camera, those color pics are really nice for '56...Makes ya wonder what happened to all of theses old dragster hot rods! I like the guy with the "saftey" helmet and "short sleves" hahaha
cool shots...pretty nice pix for 56...I want the flamed deuce and the powder blue pickup in my garage
I have a 5 minute video of the action there at Allentown Airport. The woody wagon is in the video. Also, back in the 90's I was at York for the Street Rod Nationals and the woody wagon was in the swap meet area. It didn't have an engine in it but I knew it was the car in the video. The seller said he was from the Washington D.C. area. I sent him a copy of the video. Cool pics!!
Can you post it? or is it online? The woody belonged to John Good in '56. There's been photos posted here on the HAMB of it sitting in somebody's garage from not long ago.
Great shots and I thank you for sharing them. That 999 coupe would look good in my garage right now. Wonder if it still exists? Thanks again.
I'd like to post the video but it's on VHS ( remember those?) and it's at the beginning of a 1 hour long tape of vintage drag racing. I wouldn't know where to begin to post it. It'd have to be transfered to digital I guess. Sorry!
