Zach, ya done real good, boy......The youthful exuberance brings a smile to my face too. You are now reaping the rewards of your toil......roll all around in it.... But remember this: As you drive along in your roadster, the bigger your smile, the more saliva the wind blows back into your ears..........
well gee wiz...thanks alot everyone...didnt expect such a great response after i posted...i got radiator hoses and i drove it all around on the little dirt road here behind my house...no where to really get out of first....but i did stomp it a few times.... the only problem that occurred is the p***enger side water pump leaks around the shaft...but its not too bad...gona have to be ok for the showdown EVERYONE wanted a ride...and i wasnt gona say no as for the specs....its just some old junk ford parts no one else wanted...haha the frame is a stock 32..A front crossmember moved front one rivet hole...1.25 inches..unpinched....rear is a 27T crossmember and spring and the rails pulledtogether till they were inside the sides of the body...not sure how much exactly the body is a stock 28 roadster from arizona so its ptretty solid....a few pinholes but nothing toooo bad the front axle is a 32 commercial axle dropped a little and i stretched the k-member socket to accomidate the longer wheelbase with a stock 32 wishbone the rear is a 36 with 3.78 gears and the torque tube and wishbones shortened to match the wheels centered in the wheel wells...T spring its 39 front drums...36 rears with 36 wide 5 wheels...6.00's up front 7.00's out back f-1 steering...stock 49 truck motor for now...hooked to a 39 ****** 46 brakes...home made gas pedal...reconfigured 36 pedals for the brake and clutch.... thats about it really....all in all some pretty solid original stuff thats not all butchered up....theres a bit of bondo in the body from the previous guy...it'll come out here eventually...but its ok for a while i guess i cant wait to get it on the "real" road zach
Don't worry Zach. I'll be at the showdown with plenty of camera gear to get some better shots. Look forward to seeing that old heap. Can't wait to see it in person! Maybe we can find a place in the mag for your car in the showdown coverage.. Spike
Dang! That's a *****in car any of us old farts would love to have. Helluva first time job! That first ride IS something, like alot of other first times.
..........thanks to modern technology.......... ...............way to go "little cousin!".........see you tomorrow.
dont take too many pictures spike....its no beauty queen...plus its not done i try to keep the modern technology away from this car as much as possible zach
Good to see "proper" wheels on the car as well - with the studs out nice n wide! Your trail of temporary plug leads look like mine do 7 years down the road - still waiting for that winter rebuild I promised after the first shakedown run!
Great job man, you really nailed the 40's lakes racer look. that built flattie is going to be very cool in that car!
................just FYI, Zach and his Dad trailered the roadster to the Showdown because it isn't tagged yet, but my man drove the WHEELS of the thing with no major problems. What a shakedown cruise!! Great job..........
That car is ****ing great in person.... I took about 10 pictures at the show and half were of his roadster....
thanks everyone, im back to the grind today...only till 11 thought the ***le was in the mailbox when i got home saturday so after a quick spirt up the road shes now in the garage with the hallock back in the planning stages and the lights and guages ready to go on/in... a few bolts came loose and the trunk latch broke plus the leaky waterpump but all in all it seemed to hold up well just picked up a 53 merc motor that looks like it'll run so i might drop that in it for a while till i get to the "hot" one ready...should be a bit better then this stock 49 truck motor it was great to see everyone at the show, i can;t beleive how many good comments i got on the car ok, BACK TO WORK! thanks zach
Great lookin' Rod, Kustom! Your figurin' a Hallock 'screen into the mix too? Execellent! Way to gow, fast! Koops.....
Zach, Your car is letter perfect. You deserve alot of credit. I can't begin to tell you how much I liked that car. When I grow up I want to be just like you . Actually I have a AV8 RPU in mind that would be very similar. Again great job young man. You Rule dude.
Zach: Wish I could see that car in person & shake your hand! What a great car, I love seeing something like that it gets me all fired up and reminds me why I LOVE trad cars. Great job!!!!!!
Wow, you've really been workin on the roadster. Your body was on Ben's truck when he delivered my truck cab. Mines still sittin in the barn.
wow!, thanks for posting that...i hadnt seen any pics of it on the truck before..and forgot to take one in the excitement when i received it thanks zach
Like I said before kid, you don't just practice traditional, you live it. Don't be so modest! Just wish I could have made the showdown and took a lap with you.
