Hahaha, we actually made Neil stop smoking weed for the build, he has alot
more energy now and can almost remember what he is supposed to get done
    each day.

Django, you must have jinxed us,

the motor is a boat motor with about 40 hours on it, like I said it was in a freeze and the block cracked on the side below the exhaust. it is a crack
in the water jacket. It has been welded up before we got it but it is a big
worry for us, but it is so clean and fresh inside and it was free.

well we filled up the radiator this morning in preperation for firing later and there are tiny droplets forming where the crack is, this really ****s because
there isn't even pressure yet or heat.
we do have access to other motors but we really didn't want to swap out the motor this close to go time. It was a gamble I guess we lost.
the guy who gave us the block is convinced some block sealer and maybe
    JB weld will fix it.

so we are putting in the block sealer and we will see how it acts later today.
it runs pretty good(you have to run it for 20 min. for the block sealer)
it is not streaming out at the crack, just tiny droplets every 10 seconds.

thanks for all the encouragement, this is definately the low point after working so hard.

as much as you guys have done in this short of time that block problem will just be a blip on the screen, good to see people getting things done.I would've had that much time in thinking about it.

Ok after the 20 min running the motor we drained out the block sealer and we have to let it dry.
the good news is the block stopped leaking, at least for now.
the motor ran ok, but one of the carbs is not working.
so we will have to rebuild that. motor has 45lbs of oil pressure
and came up to 180 deg and stayed there for the run in.

bad news is the radiator leaks and it did not stop, so we need another
    radiator and make new mounts.
    and rebuild the "rebuilt" carb.
    gotta go to work

Just run a very low (like 4-7psi) radiator cap and maybe a little more block sealer...keep an eye on it, and hope for the best.

...carry a couple jugs of coolant with ya, too!

This is awsome Dave, nice job. I am embaressed to tell you how long I have been "working" on my '32 and how little I have gotten done. ****.
Hey if you are in a jam I have a 350 sbc slated for the '32, it's sittin on the floor and it is a long way from going in, you are welcome to borrow it. Also have a brand new Walker radiator for the project, fits a '32 grill shell, you are welcome to borrow that as well.
I wanna see that car in Paso.
We are leaving Marin fri am if you guys want to caravan.

Hey guys checking this at work.

I have to admit you guys are keeping my spirits up.
we were pretty bummed to have the crack still leaking.

I have to give credit where it is due, Jeff came up with the idea for the horn bell on the steering column.

I ran the fuel lines, so thanks ryan,

I personally have learned alot from the hamb and have seen some really great ideas and projects. I am happy that you guys find our build of interest.

the fact there are people on here who are willing to help
means alot to me and I have tried to do the same for the
folks I have met on here.

Good news is we have another radiator, from a 64 chevy truck with a six. it fits well and should be more than enough to cool the motor. bad news is the sides are br*** so we can't weld on the grill mount brackets like we would have. So I think we will rivet it on and come back and solder it. I have never done the soldering on a radiator and have not been able to find any good info on how to do it.
so we may have to farm it out to the radiator shop. It will
probably be best, but I want to learn to do it.

    thanks again guys

so here we are tuning up the running motor

    NO more Leaks, yippie.

we rebuilt both carbs, one had blasting media in it. Unbelievable, Neil bought them as rebuilt.

everything was ready to go, Neil was a little scared so went over the car one last time. then I told him he better get in and drive it before I do.

  26. WOW!! Now that's what ya' call a thrash.

Picked a nice number to put on the door.

I like the way you located the rear end. Better than split fixed end radius rods. This deal should be bind free. Applying a bunch of torque to the radius rods would be my only concern, but you'll probably smoke the tires before ya' can hurt anything. I'd like a follow-up report on how it works for ya'.

This build is inspirational. Nice job.

Except for the lights, this reminds me of a quick build of an oval track race car that you'd see a good crew do 35 years ago!;)
