New Project time AGAIN So I picked up the remains of another T Coupe a while back. Want to build a 27 roadster but like the shapes of the coupe so the plan is to cut the top off. Going for a 60's show car sort of theme. White with purple lacework panels, white interior, dash made from the grill of a ford twin spinner, V 12 lincoln with 6 chromed 94 holleys ect ect Little bit like this sort of theme.... (Love this car sorry about stealing the pic) Started to knock together a set of rails as the ****** engine is too big for me engine stand. <LI cl***=smallfont>Edit Report 05-08-2011 11:39 AM benflathead Now to add the engine.... Gearbox is a 4 speed overdrive auto out of a toyota. This one will be for the wife to drive. No gears. <LI cl***=smallfont>Edit Report <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> <!-- vBulletin.register_control("vB_QuickEdit", "362058", 'GroupMessage'); //--> </SCRIPT> 05-08-2011 11:49 AM benflathead me old man pete came round the other night and while mum and my wife wife were inside watching **** reality TV we snuck out and ripped the heads off the old girl....may need a ridge removal tool???? Put the heads back on and let it soak for a couple of weeks with a mixture of acetone and ****** fluid. Pulled the sump and dropped the crank out. Crank and rods are perfect no rust will need to get the whole lot cleaned up but a lot better than expected. Tapped the pistons out easily with the crank removed and pulled most of the valves out so far. All the internals are still useable. Looking good.
Stock 40 ford brakes with original arms in place. No good with dropped 4-inch stock axel. Original hacked off and new dropped steering arms bolted in place. Front end looking goods with new rims as well from Al (Rare 32) parts shop. Al (Rare 32) was round last night so we had to sit the front end under with the new firestone tyres for a looksee.. For those that might care we aquired the engine out of Africa through a mate. we have a HOGAN tripple carb amnifold on order will post pics when it arrives.
Apprentice helping me do the other side pipe in the shed yesterday. Guess what the headlights are from???
mmmmm 3 is nice but six will be better.. Now coupes are so 2009 (when I built the other one) So cut the top off.. Body back off to continue with centre sections.. Pipes even fit.. Gussets and fish plates for rear end..
Daughter has been playing with colour scemes for me... Some 58 Caddy tailights should go nicely with the theme Use one to access the fuel filler..
Got my headers and manifold back from being coated. spayed a head white to see how it will all look. GUnna paint the block purple at this stage....
Truly remarkable, NICE job, maybe look up the guy from Montana USA on the Hot Rod Lincoln, made aluminum covers for the heads, looked fantastic.
Nice job! I really like how your putting effort into having a strong frame with full gussetting etc. Most after a "show car" would simply leave it basic and put the effort into the shiny stuff. Obviously, THIS car will be a great driver as well as shiny! I'm a big fan of the "T Coupester" since I saw SamIyam's" RoachRod build. I'm a ****er for the minimalistic buildups.....pure Hot Rods.
Nice project I will keep my eyes on this one. You are using a 1946 / 1948 Lincoln block which were the better ones to use as the water jackets had more spacing between the cylinder walls. The Toyota transmission you are using did you have the make an adapter to fit it or just bolted on. Thanks Frenchy
Lots of interesting stuff in the background of these pics also. Howzabout some info on the Caddy flathead powered rail?
Call me stupid, but I haven't got a clue what the headlights are from. All I know is that I like them. Mike
