I ended up finding out my Camaro clip was a '76 by the stamping on the upper A arm. Most parts are interchangeable, but some won't mix. I thought mine was a '74 until a Camaro dude told me to check those stampings.

Yeah I had a feeling that was way off. I'm going to clean up the control arms and see what I find.

you're my boy blue! yes the difference in diameter between my old ball joint and new ball joint is approximately 0.02". Seems very small but it's giving me a lot of trouble.

That would be the difference between "stock" and the "repair " ball joint..
What I have had to do in the past is use a flapper wheel in the diegrinder to clean up the hole in the a-arm..
On some of our dirttrack cars we have to tack weld the ball joint into the a-arm, so if you take off a little too much...No big deal.. the weight of the car holds the balljont in place when the wheels are on the ground.
Open the hole up a little and press it in...

( looks like the mfgs are consolidating the #s....the last 2nd gen camaro is 30 years old!!!) not a lot of them left on the road, compared to the millions that were built..

Thanks Dave, this is exactly what I am doing. I busted out the sand paper and found casting number 371875L on my spindle which I traced to a 2nd gen camaro. Gonna clean up the A arm and pop that ****er in
