I'm trying to help a friend sell her Dads 40 Merc convert (early custom) Her huband requires 18 hours a day medical ***istance I'm trying to find some history on the car for her The car was from the Orlando-Daytona beach area It's been in her family over 50 years Here's where I need the help and history lesson there are "Dash plaques" on the dash Maybe some "Old Timers" on the H.A.M.B has some pictures from these shows The first one reads Third ............ (Third place or third Rally?) "Little Leman Rally" SSCC ................ (I think these are the right letters) July 1959 Second Plaque reads "DBSCC" ......... (Daytona Beach ? Car club?) " Picture ESK Rally" Oct 25, 1959 3rd place Thanks for the help
This may not be much help because it's conjecture but may give you someplace to start. "DBSCC" - May be Daytona Beach Sports Car Club. I say this because the plaque also mentions a rally. The first plaque you mentioned made reference to "little Leman(s?) Rally. This sounds like something that could refer to the road course at Sebring, Fl. Maybe the "SSCC" could be Sebring Sports Car Club or Sunshine State Car Club.
Thanks for the info THe 40 Merc took 3rd place Was it common for hot rods to attend sports car Rallys back in 1959? I wouldn't think they would let a Hot Rod win Maybe that's the only show there was to go to in 1959?
