The sound is noticeable, people in other cars and on the street will hear it too. But it's really not that bad for the driver I think. I have roadster with a QC, it's a pretty cool part.

The one you have, it's not too wide?

I have one with the same side bells, only with wide 5 spindle snouts. My plan is to take it apart, chuck the bells and axle tubes in my lathe and machine all of the ribs down to match the shortest ones. That way it will not look quite so large. I have used the helical cut spur gears, they will make a lot less noise. You may only want to only install them for longer runs ,as that hemi should have enough power to blow the rear cover off with them installed. Good luck with your project.

Please dont cut those down- they are strengthening ribs and they are also *****in- you can still get bells from Frankland, and Winters and I'm sure someone would buy those gennies from you so it wouldn't cost ya- I'd take them myself but i've already got some Jones Magnesium bells on mine.

thanks Rick, I had no plans on cutting them down, it is a big rearend, but I like it that way. I didnt know much about the early Dodges, but it looks very "model a ish" only bigger overall. So, I think the rear will look great as is, Im on the fence about polishing the thing though....maybe just the rear cover

Buy her a portable music system with a pair of good headphones and she will never hear the gear drive or QC.
