Bought car but DMV said the Title is Bogus

I have bought a car from a private guy, paid cash after i went to the DMV few days later they called me and told me that the ***le is fake, now the car cant be registered..i tried calling the seller but the phone has been disconnected...i am in the state of IL....any help please

 

Step One would be filing a police report, as a crime was committed when he took your money and gave you a bogus ***le.

 

No actually step one would be to make an introduction..........

 

Where did you buy the car,close or across country? Sounds like you got burnt,hope not for much.

 

You have just started on a journey that pretty much everybody that buys an old car in Illinois is now traveling. Lots of h***le, and some expense. PM me, I'll tell you what I have learned negotiating through the Sec'y of State bureaucracy.
