take a cooler line off, start it and see if fluid is coming out of it.

fluid is good. the va*** modulator is on the rear of the ****** behind the pan and should have a va***e line attached to it going to the minifold somewhere... not exactly sure where.

Checked the manual for my car (255/c4) and it just taps in to the manifold vac***e

    fluid coming out= good.

    fluid not coming out= bad.

If it's not pumping fluid, most likely the toque converter isn't all the way in the front pump.

  10. I'd say the vacuum is your best bet. If that got screwed up it wont let the ****** shift.

When you put it together you may have forgotten to slip the input shaft into the front of the ******. That would give you park and 5 neutrals. You wouldnt be the first guy whos done that.

The modulater will work on any manifold vac*** source, meaning below the carb throttle plates, venturi vac*** wont work, I dont think thats your problem though as the modulater just controls shift points. I have never seen one, even with the vac*** removed, that would not go, at least in first or reverse. It sounds like your not getting fluid pressure where you need it, small input shaft missing as already described, or maybe something gummed up or stuck in the valve body. If it's a used ****** thats been sitting that might be my first guess.
