I love 33-34 ford coupes... I love lakes coupes... Given all of that, to me the best looking lakes coupe ever was probably Doug Hartelts 34 Lakes Coupe. http://www.ahrf.com/image_detail.php?type=advancedsearch&position=18&PHPSESSID=4808f6c21e9050462d578e166f9cd4eb I think it has the best looking chop, track nose and channel... But there only seems to be a handfull of pictures of it out there... Anybody have more? Anybody know what happened to it? Thanks...
kinda ironic , i shot a pic of this car with my camera phone yesterday , out of a old magazine...my photo , has it at the drag strip ...cool car , for sure
The car is awesome! You know, I have been thinking about how cool the Disk Wheels up front is with some spokes in the back. I wonder why more people don't run this setup. Also, the track width really makes the car. There is a definite fine line that can be walked when either sticking the wheels out further or ****ing them into the body. This car seems to perfect the latter of the two. I would love to see more images of this car and it's transformation. Any records?
Have to agree, that's a fine example of a lakes '34. Good to see there were others besides the more famous ones like the So-Cal '34. Frank
I was thinking that this was perhaps the same car but I don't think so. Unless the sides are different because of the exhaust pipes. What was his car running engine wise?
Are there no brakes on these coupes? Also it looks like the same push car is being used so maybe they are the same coupe.
Sorry, don't have a scanner. Heres a list of pictures that I have. My favourite Lakes coupe also. Hop Up Oct '51 Pg 26 Hop Up Nov '51 Pg 14 Hop Up Mar '52 Pg 30 "American Hot Rod" Pg 100 "Birth of Hot Rodding" Pg 151 "Hot Rods as they were" Pg 86 "Old Hot Rods scapbook" Pg 122 Cheers, Stewart.
Same car, check out the use of Bumper Bracket Rubbers where the cross spring comes out of the nose. Cheers, Stewart.
Thanks Stewart, those are all the pictures I've been drooling over for the last few years... I always hope I'm going to see more someday but it never happens. In fact this is the second time I've done a post like this about this car. The other one didn't even get this many replies. And you are correct, that's the same car...
