Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Shiftymutt, May 16, 2005.

  1. Well Suagus fell through so the Rat Fink Party Kustom Kulture Extravaganza has been moved (and the date is different).

    July 9 2005 10:00am - 4:30 pm
    L.A. Country Raceway,
    6850 East Ave. T, Palmdale, CA 93550

click on the the link for the flyer
    http://www.ratfink.org/rfparty2k5/pdf/flyer.pdf

Should be a better location and is way more accommodating!!!! get your registration in early. Moldy has a lot on the line for this and we have to support this growing show.

  3. I kind of hear that Saugus was real pushy and not very cool about the whole thing...Problem is Palmdale in July is going to be Africa Hot!!!!

  4. yeah, i think the difference between palmdale and canoga park is like two degrees in july. i'd rather be at a drag strip any ol' day.

LACR is a cool place to have an event, LOTS of space and ist in the middle of nowhere. perfect fo making noise. i mean it IS a drag strip after all.

    i'll be there!

    shifty...
we missed you at the race yesterday...wha happon??
ask plan 9 about it. you should really come out for the next one!

sweet! Just right down the road from me.. Wonder if it's gonna effect what cars show up? When it was down below, I imagine it was easy for people to get their cars over to it... but now that it's 70 miles from LA, I wonder if there's gonna be as many cars?

How weak is it that i'm only a couple of miles from LACR, and never been inside?

well that sucks.. I liked it when it was in the SFV. It was fun walking thru different parking lots and down street to see all of the show.. Have you tired finding a place out here in ventura county?.. I'm sure you have tried everything... Don't mind me it just that it was only 5 miles from my house and I'm lazy when its that hot!..... It will still be fun at LACR!!

ARE WE ALLOWED TO RACE THERE???? GRUDGE MATCH TRAVIS???

Hey Eric, I met you at the auto spa show. If you need any help getting flyers out let me know. I could also make copies for free at work.

    Hey Shaun,
The next show out here would be the auto spa in June.
I think I might be driving my car to Paso. So I will try and get some passed out there. Thanks for the offer on the copies. I've also took advantage of my work with the copier. Also send me or Shiftymutt a PM when you need help on your car.

  19. YES WE CAN RACE!!!!!:D

I just got a message from Moldy and he said that we will get to race....

    Howdy folks,

Just thought I'd put some verbiage down on this here thread.

The big thing here was to try and save the event this year and L.A.C.R. was gracious enuf to allow us to take over one of their test and tune days, so's I can't look a gift horse in the mouth. And to tell you the truth, Drag Racin', Rat Fink and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth just seem to go together, yes'sir, just like Peas and Carrots.... and the thing that is weird is that I have always wanted to merge this show with a drag strip. they say there is a reason for verything..

Well maybe that is the reason.

2 years ago I had a deal with Irwindal for the 1/8 mile. Had a contract on that one too. Everything was great until the city got involved and wanted a cut of the gate not to mention a cut of all the vendors cash to include event
permits for all of the vendors and they wanted me to get a business license in the city of Irwindal along with a special event permit just to do a one day show?. The red tap was so great after 2 months I bailed.

Ventura would have been great, but I also looked into that a few years back, it's a big bucks place and not easy to book at the last minute. Actually it's not that easy to book at all. Jen and John are pretty Lucky for havin' that
venue for the Primer Nats.. One of the Best shows I've ever been to.

Anyway, I tried to find a venue out near the Saugus / Santa Clarita area and either the places were already booked,or they couldn't get permits or they just didn't want our kind around. I think'x that when folks hear the words like
Rat Fink, Hot Rod's, Deadbillys and such, they think were gonna tear up the place.

As far as the weather goes, it don't really matter, yes it will be hot, but I've lived up this way for a few years now, and used to kick around here when I was a kid, and to tell ya the truth in the first part of July it can be just as hot in the valley. The air is a lot more arid up here and well much more tolerable then the humidity of the valley.

I'll assume that we'll most likely lose some of the valley folks because of the haul up the hill but I've already had calls from folks up north who have to drive the same distance if not farther, also talked to folks as far out as arizona and they are still comin'.

If ya look at it this way for the folks coming from places like Bakersfield, Sandiego, Riverside Sanberdo.. the trip is actually a heck of a lot shorter. Same thing for folks up Vegas way.. So who knows maybe they will all take up the difference.

Right now the business at hand is workin' out budgets and refunding or sending back the bucks from some of the vendors and entries that had to back out because they had other things scheduled, the refund also includes Galpin Motors cuz they didn't want to sponsor a show that was in another dealerships territory. The total is somewhere around $ 3,500.00 right now. Like I said before, the good thing is that I hadn't spent any of it yet, just my own cash. The way I look at it sort of like starting over.

The new sponsor could end up bailin' out the whole mess but for now they seem to have clammed up. Still waiting to hear from them in regard to how much they are willing to pledge.

I do know one thing, with folks like you... it's a fer sure thing this is gonna be a good one.

So keep on handin' out them flyers and spreadin' the word.

    here's a bunch of links.

    General show info:

And I still have room for Vendors (call first):

    Well that shoudl do it!

    On with the Show!

I live in Hesperia which is about 45 minutes from LACR, the weather is hot but it is a dry heat, and there usually is a slight breeze in the later part of the day, you get used to it after living there for 20 years. My wife and I will be there with our 56, see you all there,

I put up the general guidelines to meet tech for racing up on the web site.

It's pretty simple. I'm gonna assume that most vehicles built for the street are gonna do over 14 sec.
If yer in that category.. pretty much all ya need is a seat belt and to make sure ya got a Puke tank for yer radiator.

If yer runnin' sumpthin' quicker than that then you'll need some other things depending on how yer ride is set up.

Here is a direct link to the page.
    http://www.ratfink.org/rfparty2k5/dragrules.htm

Either that or you can just go to the party pages and click on the link from the main page.

well I was handing out the flyers at the 4th sat car show in Palmdale and was happy to say that I found duplicate ones in cars with someone else doing the same as I was.. I did not stay to the end but the people running the show volunteered to make an announcemnet about the event over the loud speaker during the award presentation. Look forward to large turnout Ed ke6bnl

    Thank you Ed..

I went up to Paso on saturday to hand out flyers.

I really appreciate your hard work.

Especially if we can hit more than one show at the same time.

I'm going to try to hit Thunder on the Lot on the 11th and 12th.

We need to hit other places to...this is what I have been doing.

I put the entry forms in places like Auto parts Stores, Bike Shop etc.
    http://www.ratfink.org/rfparty2k5/pdf/vehicle_entry_form.pdf

Then I'll ask ask if I can put the show flyer (general information flyer) in their window.

    http://www.ratfink.org/rfparty2k5/pdf/flyer.pdf

I've also been putting the General info flyer in liquor stores, gas stations, mini marts.

So keep a grip handy.. ya never know when you'll come across a good place to put these things.

I'm hoping to get El-lay Mae running in time for the Antique Nats this weekend.

If anyone is going I'll be havin' a BBQ at my place after the races and yer all invited. Might want to bring a tidbit
with ya to throw in the food cache. My Pool is happening and should be nice and refreshing after a day at the strip.

Once again Thank you for your support.

    Hey folks,

    Moldy here...

    my shameless plug.....

So it's the full on count down to the Rat Fink Party, yep less than a month away July 9th and for you folks that want to come out I got registration forms up on the site.

    here's a direct link..
    http://www.ratfink.org/rfparty2k5/pdf/vehicle_entry_form.pdf

Print'em out and send'em in...cuz I still got a bunch of stuff to cover for this here event and I could use the bucks!

Tell ya... It's a damn good deal if'in ya Pre Register too cuz tha $ 20 bucks gets you, yer ride and a passenger in.

If yer registering the day of the show it's gonna be $ 20 bucks at the gate which gets you and yer ride in but it'll be $ 10 bucks for every passenger.

We got some great entertainment, me and a few of my crew are rebuilding the stage.

The stage is gonna be pointed directly out to the staging lanes.. so instead of sittin' in yer ride, board as hell, waitin' to run ya can sit there and enjoy tha show.

The staging lanes are gonna be pretty diversified too so ya can either race in yer year class or race just about any one ya want. Don't know if I'm gonna bracket the thing yet still werkin' on all the logistics.. Bernie has a new timing
device and yer ticket should have the Show info on it so's ya can save it as a freakin' momen'toe of the event.

Anyway stay tuned to the site for updates. This is gonna be a gasser!
    http://www.ratfink.org/rfparty2k5

CU all soon.. and thanx fer yer support.... the moldy one
