I'm a new guy from Utah. I'm 25, and have started my first hot rod. It's a 1930 Ford Briggs "Bindback" Sedan. My wife inherited it from her grandfather when he passed away a few years back. Anyway, I've got lots of plans for it, and am working to get it running ASAP. Below is a rendering of what it'll look like (done in paint). The Greek letters on the side were from her uncle. In order to join a college fraternity, he had to ghost ride it off of a huge flight of stairs at Utah Sate University. It tumbled down and landed on the drivers side. It has some pretty gnarly damage, But it's ours, and were excited to get into rodding. I love traditional rods, and hope to keep up the tradition with mine.
I'll be honest, my plans seem to be continually changing with new ideas I get (although this one has stuck with me the longest). Everyone has their opinions about somebody else's car, so they make their own. In the end it's my car, and I'm having a damn good time making something I've envisioned. But thanks for your concern, you have a sweet '31 Tudor!!
Couldn't agree more with it being your car. The person that needs the smile on their face is the one behind the wheel. My point was that often people build a car for shock value rather than what they "want." They realize they've put tremendous amounts of work, parts and money into a project that turns out to be something they never really wanted. I'm not one to criticize your plans, quite the contrary. Do as you wish, just do it for YOU not to raise eyrbrows. You'll enjoy the car far more following this principle.
Thanks for your advice daddio211. Sorry, I didn't mean to be an ass. I agree with you though, I never really appreciated shock factor hot rods. But a hot rod with good craftsmanship, that's well driven, now were talking! I just want to make something that I'll love to drive, and that'll really scoot!!! Just got a garage that I'm renting this last week, now my car has a home! And we've got the engine and tranny out, and the body ready to pull off! Thanks for all your welcomes!
I didn't think you were being an ass at all, and my apologies if I came across that way. Start a build thread so we can enjoy the build as it goes.
