Greetings, My name is Malcolm Campbell, I'm one of the old farts that grew up during the heyday of hot rodding. Was in high school from 57/58 to 60/61. My first car was a 29 Model A coupe, given to me by my older brother who got it from Dad. My dad drove this car to work every day from 1946 until 1953 when he purchased a 51 GMC pickup that he drove every day till he p***ed in 1998. My brother rebuilt the original engine in auto shop in high school, right after he graduated he entered the Air Force and I became the new owner of the A. I rebuilt the original three speed trans, straightened the body, took the utility box out of the trunk [ my dad built this in to carry stuff home from work] and put a deck lid on. In woodshop I fabricated all new wood headers for the soft top roof and then put a new naugahyde insert on the roof. Got it all primered and ready to paint, came home from school one day and it was gone! My dad was off that day so I asked where it was, he sold it to a friend of our next door neighbor who had a small truck farm and he intended to turn it into a tractor, my dad sold it for the princely sum of $50.00!!! Needless to say my dad and I had a huge falling out about this, I moved out of the house and didn't speak to my dad for the next 15 years, thank god we finally patched up our differences a number of years before he p***ed. Well that's a little about me, I look forward to participating in this site.
Welcome to the HAMB. I can't believe none of the 'old timers' are around to welcome you...probably arguing with some 'Johnny come lately' (like me); whether wide whites are acceptable with Radirs. Kelvin
Welcome from Bakersfield. You should like it here on the H.A.M.B. Have you always been in Pomona? Theres a cool stroy on a car from Pomona High School 69 going on here on the HAMB
That's a pretty cool introduction. Good reading. Glad you patched things up with your dad. Welcome...
