Heading down to the Fort Myers area on the 16th of October for a month and I'm bringing the car down with me. Anything going on??
The Florida Hot Rods & Hogs on 12/4/11 at the Lee Co. Civic center. Looks to be a good show. info http://flhrh.com/ Always fun is downtown Ft Myers Bike Night on 11/12/11 info http://downtownfortmyersbikenight.com/
This area isn't the hottest for hot rod action, but if you don't mind a little drive up I 75, Garlits place is having a show on 10/22 and the next day the Billetproof Drags are at the Lakeland Motorsports Park. Those two events ARE WORTH THE DRIVE. Oh, and there is a show every month at the Muscle Car Museum in Punta Gorda. It is not bad at all. I think it is the last Saturday of the month or something like that. I just remembered, Mels Diner on 41 in Ft Myers is planning a show sometime in that period you will be here too. Don
Thanks Don,I heard there is a place on 41 and Pine Island rd that is drawing some cars and a place in Cape Coral on wednesdays. Ever been to those or heard of them? I was planning to going to Garlits place on the 22nd,there is also a big race at Bradenton Motorsports Park on the 23rd I was going to head too.
That 41/PI road one is at Merchants Crossing. Never been there, but I hear it is ok. Don't know anything about the CC one. I'll see you at the BP drags, I plan on running my 27 this year. Don

^^^^ Depending on when you start your drive south, you might have a lot of hot rodding company on the interstate. Gary
I'm a Ft Myers guy, anyway, Monday nights around 5 PM to 8 at Merchants Crossing - Rt 41 at Pine Island Rd (It's Bayshore if you get off 75) Typically 50 or so cars at this time of the year. 100 or more in "season" Jan-Mar. Good crowd, junky "prizes", adjacent restaurant, music and emcee. One guy showed up with a Miata last year and we threw him out! Then there was the guy with a flathead in a MG - him we let stay. Once a month there's a good gathering at the McDonalds in Port Charlotte. I never remember the date? 3rd Friday of the month? Look for me, 36 Ford coupe, Seafoam green. Usually hanging out with my yellow T-bucket buddy.
If you wanted a ride a hour or two North, you have Bradenton Motorsports Park, real nice full 1/4 mile drag strip, I have many laps laid down there. A little further North is Biff Burger in St Pete, they should have a web site, and a little further to Clearwater is the Quaker Lube joint, big shows there. Plus you get to go over the famous Sunshine Skyway bridge, breathtaking especially in a roadster, welcome to Florida, TR
Thanks guys,I'll be staying in Port Charlotte and I've been wanting to bring one of my cars down with me for a few years. I finally was able to put enough vacation time together to do it this year so I'm looking to have a good time. Looks like I'll be leaving Chicago on the 14th,so I hope to be down early on the 15th. Mike
