So !!!! Always wanted something a bit different, and now
that I have it....am having trouble figureing out which way
    to go.....

1946 Chevy CarryAll / Suburban....there are NO axles, just
    a bare frame....

S10 ???? Mustang II with Ford Diff??? Another ch***is
    that someone has used ????

I DO NOT have deep pockets, so it can't be outrageously
    expensive.....

Just looking for a bit of advice, ideas from others on what
might work, or what they have seen work in the past....???

Any and All Advice or Suggestions will be much appreciated

    Thanks in Advance

    Les in Minnesota

I wouldn't worry about that stuff until you have all the sheet metal for that Suburban in your hands.

  3. I would dress the original ch***is. You could go independent with it or a beam front axle or use the frons suspension from an early '50s Chevy sedan that someone else has swapped out for a Mustang II.

For a rear the rear from an '80s Trans Am fits real well, rear springs are not real expensive even if you buy new ones, and you could have discs that way. There are plenty of upgraded brake kits for the truck axle or the early '50s Chevy if you want to go that route. Or you can bolt later GM F body drums to that if you decide that drums are OK. You could also use a 9" Ford or a dana from a bigger MOPAR or???

Your options are unlimited while still utilizing the original ch***is.

Straight axle fronts are cheap and easy. Hell you can even align them yourself.

I don't think getting axles under it first is all that bad of an idea. Unless you have a forklift sitting around having a rolling ch***is is a big plus.
