That one was built here in my town by a couple guys I know (one deceased). Was a shortened '28 sedan with about 2 feet cut from the middle of the rear side windows. I don't know where it is today either.

Where in Iowa do you live?

I live in Kellogg, just south of you. Last I knew, Bud Miller from Newton had it, and sold it not long after getting it. That's who I was going to buy it from, but just couldn't scrape together the funds in time.

    Full floating hubs.
The rear axle is a late Champ style quick change. Semi-floating axles tend to snap off at the flange when sliding sideways around a bumpy dirt track. Full floating axles (like on the rear axle of a 3/4 or one ton pickup) are much stronger. The housing supports all the weight and side loads. The axle shafts just supply torque.

  5. I built my roadster pickup from a 2 door sedan, using the sedan doors with the top cut off, moved the rear up to just behind the doors, and built my own box. The doors in their stock form as I used them are 29" long. Henrys stock roadster pickups and pickup trucks are a very short cab section, too short for anyone over 5"-8" or about 130 pounds. I built my cab section to be 6" longer than stock, and it is quite comfortable. My roadster pickup measures 39" from the upper dash-rail to the rear of the cockpit at the center of the body, and 54" at its widest point on the body, just behind the doors. If you want to see more pictures, I currently have a post running on this forum "how I make a carson style roadster top", and it has a picture of me setting in the car.

These photochop images have been posted on the Art Show thread, but they are also along the lines of what you've asked for. Sedan converted to PU. I'm diggin' it! Don't know who the original belongs to, but the pic was taken at Lake Afton KS a couple of years ago.

    Scootermcrad,
    I had a 30 tudor that I chopped 6", channeled 3", and shortened 24".
This was about the mid seventies. I will try to find some pics of it.
Every once in a while I have a dream about that car, that I have found it ,bought it back and are raising hell in it once again. When I wake up, I always check the driveway! Oh, yeah that was my first Hot Rod!

Anybody have any more pics of shortened Ford A-sedans? Or any 30's sedan for that matter. It's been 6 years since the last post, there's bound to be a few more that have been made.

I've got a 1930 Briggs "blindback" bodied sedan that I will be shortening, removing the rear doors. It will be similar to Scootermcrad's Model-A, minus the windows behind the door, and my rear wheels will be underneath the body more.

Scootermcrad, your car is incredible! I've wanted to shorten my sedan into a lakes modified/3-window coupe Model A. Then I saw your build thread and Whatchaworks blog, and seriously pooped my pants! your car is inspiration!

I made a rendering of what I'll be doing in paint. It may look junky, but it gives an idea of what it'll look like.
