I had a 'problem' with the city about my 'hobby' last year. They didn't like the fact that 3 'unregestred/ in-operable vehicles resided in my back yard.

One was a 90% restored Mustang convetable, another was a 46 Dodge PU 'ratrod' and the other was a 1938 Dodge 4 door.
I decided to fight fire with fire.
I took pics of the 'non compliant' vehicles, then I took pics of some of the buildings in the 'hood'.
I then went to a City Counsel meeting, armed with my pics.
I signed the book to 'speak', then spoke.
The Mayor, 2 members of the Counsel, and 2 'candidates' in the next election wanted to see the 'pics' that I didn't show during my 'presentation'.

I 'joined' the neighborhood watch group, the 'Clean up the city' group, I spent lot of my evenings cleaning up city owned property. ALL the sudden, no one CARED that I had old rusty cars in my back yard!

It went so far that the Mayor called me to city hall to recieve an 'award' for my community service! That was LAST year!
THIS year, I got called back to city hall and got an award from the new Mayor, and the Gov of Maryland for 'commulity service'.
STILL, no one mentioned that I have old cars in my back yard.

KILL them with 'KINDNESS', Work WITH them! They will 'back off' on your back-yard projects!

I do the same. Neighborhood watch. Girl Scouts (!). My daughters schools. Get involved and no one will complain. Awesome!

When the subject of 'old cars' came up at the meeting, I said that "I have a special place in my HEART for old cars, as a 28 year member of WMSRA', I mentioned that I didn't care about 'in-operable/ unregestered cars if SOMETHING was happening with them! If the gr*** was cut and 'work' was being done, LEAVE them ALONE!! Times are tough! Money is tight.
There is over a MILLION dollars pumped into our local economy because of 'old cars' every Labor Day weekend! Hell, All the motels are already 'booked up' for next year!

I am now the 'voice' for the old car guys in my 'hood', even if they are too busy to speak for themselves!
