Can't tell you off hand on the length of the bolts, but some are shorter than others. Be sure not to use to long of a bolt or it will bend a push rod..

I've always tried to bury as much thread into whatever I'm tightening equal to the diameter of the bolt. So, if it's a 3/8ths' diameter bolt, I try to get that many threads at a minimum into the nut, block, or whatever.

Don't know if that helps. I do remember threading the last two bolts on the block, where the water temp sending unit attaches (?) with a bolt that was barely too deep and it snugged up against the push rod. I had to shorten the bolt. But it was more of a "place-holder" bolt to fill a hole, rather than a bolt to tighten down the manifold. When I get home tonight I can check if no one else has posted.

Yes I was going to buy that set but I cant see spending $60 plus shipping on fasteners that I can get from a local hardware store for nothing near that price. Also I really dont need stainless bolts. I might consider getting that set for my 56 sedan build since that is a higher dollar build.

That kit is not stainless and it does have all the bolts you need. How much is fewer headaches worth to you. Would be worth it to me.

Oh my mistake. I have called them before and they told me they only had stainless. Must have gotten "the new guy" that day. Well all I need now is intake and timming cover bolts.

Enginering 101. 1 and 1/2 times the diameter of the bolt is the rule of thumb.

Don't know how far you are from http://www.marshallshardware.com/ but they carry a lot of hardware. They have one location here in Salt Lake and another in San Diego.

Besides ARP, I looked on line and found a stud supplier. Had a good selection, but maybe not what you want. They may have been made for the Y block.

I ended up going to Prestige Thunderbirds in Santa fe Springs, CA. I highly recommend these guys! Well I got everything I needed. I bought the intake gaskets with the metal plates from them. Isnt the diameter of the hole too small?
