Nothing that a bit of spotlight removal and new paint and interior won't fix. That flipflop paint overpowers the rest of the car and the body work just as it does on most any other car it is put on.

Exactly what I was going to say. Otherwise an outstanding car.

    Don't forget the rearview mirrors...

It's not my cup of tea either but there is a hell of a lot more than $44k in that car.
    Tons of time and labor.

  10. So did that black one really sell for $66K and now the new owner is trying to flip it?

I have to say, based on the pics, that $66K was a steal if that's the case. I can get my car to look pretty nice but look at that engine compartment, cost a mint to get it that nice.

That other one selling for $99K. while I think the sale prices should be the other way around, one will never know why one sold for $30K more. I personally don't like the headlight treatment on the $66K one but that's personal taste. Maybe the side trim got someone's attention.

Seeing these cars go for $66-99K helps me rationalize my spending on my car. :)

That other one went cheap because the paint is ghetto and the car is out the money, which my expression for when a car no longer appeals to the right money crowd.

I have been in that hanger where the pics of the gold "king of mercs" was taken. Same guy that bought the Atomic Punk at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale. He also owns Robosaurus....

I didn't see it on Barrett Jackson, but saw it on the auction site that everybody avoids saying on this site. I contacted the owner thinking he built the car (just a question, not to bid). I don't care for the "Special Edition" emblem under the hood or the cat's eyes headlight covers, but it is definitely a killer merc. My question for the owner was what were the door panel lights off of. Anybody here know? Also, I was curious about the black section of the dash above the A/C unit. I can't figure that out. Sorry, I don't mean to hijack.

  15. Hmm. Maybe I should finish cutting up that one in the you-pull yard and weld it all back together again, if those are bringing as much as $100K I aught to be able to get $2500 for a piece of **** -

The door lights are probably off the Galaxy the interior came out of. They look very mid 60's Ford-ish. The black part of the dash by the ac is just the speaker section of the stock dash painted black.

Hi Dave. Workin' on your merc these days? Your office looks great by the way. I'm still working to get everything ****oned up on the ****** swap.

That will teach me not read closely. Yes they are the '64 Galaxie lights. I knew that was the speaker section, but why black? Definitely not feeling it.

  18. Man, lots of money spent on chrome for that car.

Thanks for the kind words on the office. I'm especially tickled now that Ron Myers came by and pinstriped the goof out of it. :D

Well, I should be working on my merc, but I got sidetracked putting an extension on my shop this summer. Haven't touched the car since June. :( I have merc withdrawal reeeeeaaaaaal bad and I'm a long way from having it all back together.

Yeah, I dunno why he painted that part of the dash black. Chrome is good! :)

  20. Ya know, I could probably ask the guy who used to own it.
