No. All I had was open heart surgery when I was 12 and again at 36. Cant let it slow you down. Keep a positive attitude, onward and upward!

my dad got a kidney transplant a number of years ago 2 weeks before my wedding. he was out of the hospital and walking around just fine by wedding day. he's been ok since.

about a year or so after I got married, my best man in my wedding had his dad get a double lung transplant 2 weeks before his wedding and was able to make the wedding as well. weird coincidence, and his dad is doing fine too.

both transplants performed at the same hospital.

best of luck to you. the new kidney really made an improvement in my dad's health and energy. now if he would just lose some weight and eat better, the rest of his health problems wouldn't be as bad.

Good to hear that you are doing well after the transplant. I'd take a bit of Wagon78's roundabout advice though and take a lot better care of myself.

My wife had a kidney transplant 4 or 5 years ago. And is doing well. Keep up with the meds and the blood work and things will go well. They will play around with the meds a little the first year. Your biggest concern is your lack of an imune system that can handle stuff. She has had some serious infections that took a couple of weeks on meds (mostly intraveinous at home).

    Good luck
    Nick

Not me, but wife (X one) had a kidney transplant when I was married to her about 18 years ago, and is doing excellent....make sure you follow your meds, as well as let the doctor know if anything feels wrong...
She never had a setback, even the two week to one month normal rejection, when the doctors usually have to revise your drugs a bit.....
Hang in there man..you will do fine!
She is still as cankerous as ever and is now 68 years old!!
    Cheers......

  13. Have a friend in Baltimore who celebrated her 18th birthday in surgery donating a kidney for her maternal grandfather who was about 70 at the time. That's been about 12 years ago, donor and recipient are doing great. Glad you're doing well and, as a fellow hot rodder, glad they were able to get the "parts" to fix you up and get you back on the road.
