1961 and 1962 columns are the same 63 and 64 are different may be the same internals the exterior is not even close....
I thought the columns were different. I'm use to 63-64's, not too sure about the 62's and dont know jack about the wagons.
I purchased it in Oct. and did not even know how to drive it with the stick on the column. I looked it up and found a diagram and have not grinded a gear at all. It is not registered legal as of yet but I have drove it around where I'm keeping it. I just dont want it to hang up on me is the reason why I wanna change to auto. but it shifts fine for now.
If the shifter 'hangs up' then you need to change out the bushings...cause they are sloppy. If you look under the hood at the steering column area you should see the linkage.
Dog dishes will fit with no problem. I think they were on 77-90 full size GM cars except wagons and fleet or hd (big brake)cars, they had 5" lug pattern. Some of these cars had 6" wide wheels also. I have some codes that I had when I was looking for them and they are-AE,AF,AH,FN,LAM,TJ AND XY. The code will be close to the lugs.
I like the three on the tree, and Ive had some worn out ones,ya just hafta know how to finess the shifter, 1st gear first then up towards reverse but not quite then back down a little then ease it forward and down into the 2nd and 3rd position then up to 2nd then easely drop her down to 3rd Its kind of like theft protection cause anyone else (that doesnt have the touch) cant drive it without crossing the gears I was told once I had a one man truck because I could drive it everyday with ease and never have any problem but someone else could get in it and try to man handle it into gear and cross them every time
Any good paste wax will help the paint. Your immediate plans sound like a winner. '63 colum should fit, the impala lights are going to require an wextra hole or two but it has been done. Get ahold of exiter Auto in Exiter Calif if you can't find parts. That would be DMarv here on the HAMB. But you should be able to get about anything you need for it from any reputable autoparts store, I found parts for mine even at Autozone, but NAPA is also a good source.
I'm with Jigger, Supremes and thin Whitewalls. Since your from Texas, this bluebonnet longroofer needs a set of longhorns on the grill ;D
