Was hoping to get some feedback for which would be the best way to lower my front end i plan on keeping my 235 straight six.But i would like to lower the front end and i have a smoother ride any help?

  2. Fatman fabrications has dropped uprights for it. Some guys cut a coil or two, no idea how that affects the ride. Beyond that it's a matter of changing the entire front end - it does unbolt from the frame - the lowbuck way to go is to use the front end from a '75-'85 Jaguar XJ sedan. They also unbolt and aren't hard to adapt to the stock frame, apparently even a couple of the mount holes line up, but it does require some ability to weld and fabricate. But that change will lower the front end a couple of inches and also give you disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and has the same wheel bolt pattern as the original Chevy wheels.

One thing with a '54 I believe it has the side motor mounts, so you can change the front end and keep the 235.

  3. Also, you can have your uprights dropped by Buffalo Ent. Cheaper than Fatmans. I installed dropped uprights, cut 1 coil and ran early Camaro shocks on my 50 Sedan. Lowered it about 3 1/2" and still rode nice. Todd

I did the exact thing as Todd on my 49 and I went with his disc brake package too and it rode fine but I did not cut coils. Now I'm using the front end on my 51 and I am putting bags on it.

What are everyone's thoughts on a mustang ll frontend?

  7. Nothin wrong with them at all!!! Lots of guys run them. You will have to fab some motor mounts if you want to keep the six. You will save some$$ if you keep the stock font end and do the mods. Todd
