hi i have a question hopefully somebody out there answers it.it seems everytime i ask something no one replies. simple ques? i have a 47 chevy coupe it takes 6.00-16 bias ,i find a real good deal on some 6.50 -16 is there's much difference on the height or width? thankyou very much and i hope some can answer
JUst a tad larger. We used to upgrade them back when, to get a fuller looking tire. I am running 600X16s on my 29 Pk Up and since they are radials they are a bit larger the the old 600X16s. Thery are more like 650X16s or 700X16s but I have no fender clearence problems. Iceman
Go on the coker website to compare tire height. I have Coker 650x16s on my A. I think they look OK. They have a cool pie crust and are relatively cheap compared to Firestones.
They're taller. The 6.50 on 35 ford rims have a like circumferance as '31 Ford 19" tires so many Model A guys use that set up
As others have noted, it's a little taller tire. This can be a good thing, as most of the older cars are geared too low to cruise comfortably at 60+ MPH without the engine screaming. A taller tire has the same effect as a higher gear ratio, so you might notice a slight improvement in terms o fuel economy and the ratio of RPM to speed. My '38 Ford pickup came with 16x4 rims and 6.00x16 standard or 6.50x16 optional on the same size rim. Just about any vehice that came with 6.00x16's should be able to run 6.50's on the stock rims with more than adequate clearances.
