Oh, you thought I meant the FRONT turnsignals. O`course I`m kiddin! I always wanted to build a 5 window pu, but can`t find the right one. I would however reconsider the flatbed idea. Put a stock bed back on it with the spare mounted in the fender.
DrJ apparently doesn't have the balls to jump in here. I was thinking his input would be of value as he has probably already encountered all the slings and arrows ***ociated with this combination. Plus he always has a different angle on just about everything and "that's a good thing" (Martha Stewart). Frank
Flipper, Here's my take. Section the stake bed so that it is the same width and length as a 3100 pickup bed (I have one if you need measurements). Run it with a set of rear fenders and running boards. Lower/raise the stake bed until it looks right. Run stake sides with three rows of slats with the tail ends staggered so they form "steps" toward the cab. Ed PS- Make it look a whole lot like that picture T McG posted. I wish I saw that before I typed all this! I might make the bed a little lower than what's in his pictures, but that's about it. PPS- It will look like a farm truck, but what's wrong with that? Sometimes you have to build things to thier strengths, not fight them.
It's a little gimicky but put a 1/4 midget on that flatbed and it would be real cool. Maybe stack some old kegs on the back and letter it up as a beer truck. You'd have lots of friends then Clark
We've kicked around the idea of installing a channel down the middle of the flatbed, so that a motorcycle would have a good place to ride.
Ok, I have never really seen Dr J truck from that position. What is the big box in the rear for. is the motor back there or is it just stapped on (can be removed ?)
Flatbeds - there's a thin line between looking good and looking like **** IMHO. Again it's only my opinion, but I think the key to building a flatbed is having the balls to drop a greasy junkyard motor on it and haul it home. If someone builds a flat that's too nice to USE I think that ruins it - like the picture of the blue one with the nitrous bottle mounted on it. It has to go with the theme of the truck too - I hate throwing words like "theme" out here but here's an extreme example - imagine one of those gl*** '37 Ford type truck cabs, all slammed with 20-something inch tires, all smoothed out with billet accessories - now imagine it with a big flat bed on it... That's my .02 worth - take the advice for what you paid for it
