    Love that Fleetline!!

Since you mentioned the bad words (street rod) I thought I'd post a pic of my ol' '47 coupe, built back in the late 80's.

If I was building it today I'd do it differently but it seemed right at the time.

    Waldo53 & abbe,
Very, very nice looking cars. The wide whites do look really good with the Torque thrust wheels.

My new Torque Thrusts showed up Friday, so went tire shopping. I dont know if I am just living in the past, but holy **** are these tire places proud of their tires and services. My original plan was to swipe the two 255 60's off the @ss end of my 68 Vert and use them on the back of the coupe. Then I was going to move the 235 60's off the front of the Vert to the rear and buy two new 225 60's for the front of the 68 Vert to get that car all taken care of. Then I wanted o buy two new 205 65's for the front of the 47. Well after hitting a few different tire places and hearing the crazy prices they are wanting for tires on top of 21 - 25 bucks per tire just for mounting & balancing, I got pissed and just came home empty handed.:(

What the hell has happened to the price of tires lately? I just bought 4 new BFG TA's for my 69 Z/28 3 years ago and was shocked when I had to pay right at 90 bucks a tire then. Well now they want almost double that for the same tires. Well... I'm not paying it!! It's not that I am cheep, well maybe I am, but that is crazy IMHO, and then on top of that since when does it cost over 20 bucks a wheel just for mounting & balancing? This isn't a damn Ferrari, just an old beater with 7" wide 15" wheels, come on no skill involved.

So screw it on to plan B, I am going to bite the bullet and mount the new wheels on my 69 Z/28. I cleaned up two of the used 14x6 Torque Thrust look a likes I bought on craigs list last week and mounted to old 215 70's I had on my harbor freight tire mounting tool. I am going to watch egay/ craigs list for 2 more 15x7 TT wheels and couple of used tires and I'll mount them up here at the house myself also. Then maybe down the road once I have completed most of the work the car needs, I'll spring for a new set of their over priced tires.

Anyway, sorry for the rant but here are a couple of pics of the car with the new used craigs list wheels and new the old tires.:D

Here is an update on my 47 wheels situation. ;) Since I mounted my 4 new TTO's on my 69 Z/28 when they came in...

I have been watching ebay and craigs for another pair of 15 x7's I could put on the rear of the coupe. I couldn't find anything and the few wheels I did find, sold for about the same as a new pair so I thought, screw it, and ordered another new pair of Torque Thrust D wheels for the rear. I went with the TTD wheels over the TTO's so they would match my used front wheels a little better.

Anyway they came in Friday and I went and mounted my 255 60's on them this afternoon. I still need to lower the @ss of the car 2-3 inches but so far I really like the look. Down the road once I have gone through the suspension on the car I may swap over as Wayne suggested to the wide whites as they do look pretty good in the photo shop pic.

I have 2" lowering blocks in the back and I have thought about lowering the front a little bit, removing the hubcaps and putting chrome spiders on it. I like the wide whites and steel rims to give it a 50's period look. I haven't got around to doing this yet. With the exception of the paint, the car is a 37K mile original and I may want to keep it like this for now.
