Do I have the correct label?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1928 DODGE BROTHERS, May 25, 2010.

  1. Hi, I have a 1928 Dodge C cab truck, I am basically restoring her and having the following modifications.
A 1959 250 flat six with 4 speed, taller diff ratio, a megaphone lake pipe with a smithy muffler in the system, dual or triple carbys with a variable speed McCulloch super charger from the 50's, the fuel tank in the front of the pickup bed and a moon tank in front of the radiator to have a pressurized cooling system, a 6000rpm swoop tacho.
going to machine up a set of finned brake drums for the 14" brakes.

I know how I want her, just no 100% sure of the era or style, I'm calling it a old school 50's style hotrod.
If I have this wrong, what era and style is this.
    Thanks.

  2. First, I don't know how many 1928 Dodge trucks other people have seen souped up but I know I have seen exactly zero. As for the engine choice, most rodders in the 50's went for the V8's although there have been a few of the flat sixes warmed over too. With the McCulloch that should be a fun ride with a bit of go factor too.
There is just not much to reference with that particular body style. You know the 50's "look" that's why there is the HAMB. I say just don't deviate from the look of the period. Get the wheel and tire combination with correct stance and you should be rolling right. All the parts you have accumulated are right on.
It looks like a fun project. I hope you will start a build thread as it sounds like a great start anyway.

  3. thanks for that, will definetly do a build thread, I chose the later flat 6 as it bolts straight in and I want her to be ALL Dodge, being a c cab will be different, as for wheels and tyres I was going to keep the original 20" cast iron 5 spoke split rim wheels, maybe a set of white walls, and lowered of course.

  4. would appreciate any other suggestions from anyone on other bits and pieces to suit this era I may not have thought of.
