Held at Valla Park Resort near Nambucca Heads,NSW.Started in 1977 and this was the 35th running of this event. We have only missed one!!! Each year gets better with the host club,The Dragens, from Sydney alway coming up with new ideas. This year the theme was "Carnivale" with a special parade through the Park with floats and dressing up. The weather was not kind to us this year and probably the coldest and wettest that we have had.At least it was fine for Saturday morning and the car show in town.we felt sorry for the campers, especially those in tents who had to endure torrential downpours at times. Looked like good numbers but not a record.Probably close to 400 cars. Plenty of new cars this year also. The great thing about Valla is the cruisin. It is non stop all weekend. With the network of roads through the cabins and camping sites.
Over 200 photos so here we go.I am watching the Bathurst 1000 as they upload.Holden leading with 1st,2nd and 3rd at halfway!!!!Go the Red Lion.
Lets continue. The black 39 in these photos is very similiar to Ryans car. Also a shot of the beach that is a short walk away.
Keep em coming. On the Tuesday afternoon they put on the street party. Old Daze club from Mackay have the prime corner position and this year it was a "hillbilly" theme.
Great pics Hudson48. Its hard for me to watch Bathurst, as i like Ford and GM, so its on in the background, while im hamb surfing. Valla Park looks like more fun.
It has started raining at Bathurst so should be some fun now. Now photos 1078 and 1079 are the result of the boys going up to Valla tavern for "Secret Mens Business".This is basically going to the pub and being served by barmaids with practically no clothing!!!Sorry no photos as younguns may be viewing.
Do this one then a new thread with some old hot rod photos from the early days in Brisbane. Here is the link to that one just finished http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=633243
These last pics are the cars ***embling in the centre of Nambucca Heads for the car show. This has been happening for 35 years and there is great support from the businesses and towns people for the run.
Lordy, what an event. Thanx for taking the time to post all these pix... fine cars... fine times. Later, Gary
Thanks Hudson48- I really like the 'summer shot'.. I Nearly went in '99- it is god's country around there. Gonna go back & look at these shots, and can't wait to see the old time thread..
