Ok, I'm posting this for my bud Chris50 who's computer has been punched one too many times as of late.

On Sunday, May 29th he is having a BBQ officially titled the "Summer Kickoff Hot Rod Hootenanny 2005" (of course those Indy guys beat him to the kickoff part...) Its always a good time... plenty of good eats and cold beer and hot rods.

This year entertainment includes a band, creeper races, and quite possibly those giant boxing glove things. (Those are always fun after a couple rounds of keg stands.) I will be wearing my trademark lampshade, wielding the waterballoon launcher and raining pain on the nearby bike trail.

In addition, he is having a 50/50 drawing with some pretty cool prizes. Don't forget the hot rod part of the party... we are expecting a nice assortment of cool cars and bikes to invade the premesis. Expect everything from your muscle cars to hot rods and kustoms. Maybe the Hellcamino will awaken from its shattered nine inch coma...

This is all taking place at his house where he has limited space... unless the weather cooperates, then there will be lots o room out back.

So, if you are in the NW Indiana area... or not and want to make a road trip (GMB... hint) come on down and have some fun on Chris' tab. Let us know by reply or PM and we will make sure there is room for your hot rod.

Hell, if you are going to the Indy 500, stop by on the way back... we'll still be drinking...

Directions would be nice, huh,... so basically he's off of Kennedy avenue in Highland, In. You need to be on 80/94 and take Kennedy Ave South to 81st ave... look for Mahoney's Auto on that corner and make a right. Take 81st to the 3rd right hand turn which will be Gordon Pl... make the right and Chris is half way down on the left. Look for his 50 Ford planted in the front yard.

You can Mapquest for it too, use 8022 Gordon Pl... Highland, In

    Hope to see ya there!

 OH WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First, I rarely see any chicagoland area events, then when I do finally see one it happens to be on the one weekend in the last two years when I'm going to be out of town !!!!!!!! I just can't catch a brake !!!!

Also, that slammed shoebox in the pic in your post, that's an old pic right? It's all (well mostly) black now right? I think I saw him cruising the shit out of it last year at one of those cruise nights on Ridge Road in downtown Lansing last year but didn't see him at the one last weekend. That thing is the shit !!! Scraping like a Mutha...... He has all the tack welds exposed right? I want a ride in that fucker one of these days. I myself am currently building a 53 Pontiac 2DR HT rat minus the air ride due to lack of knowledge and funds and seriously I can say that shoebox is the first ever real rat rod I had ever seen. There's a few out there now but that was the first. What was the special thing about the interior........ was it a completely re-welded floor?

Oh yeah, one other thing. in your flyer, is that the satin white maybe 57 or 58 plymouth with everything chromed? The one that was at the Munster car show a few weeks back. That thing is GORGEOUS and I'm gonna need to schedule a ride in that too.

Bummer on being out of town... I was thinking you might drop by because of your proximity. We'll run into you on of these days.

On the cars... no, that picture was taken at the Pile Up last October. I'm sure that is what you saw tearing up Ridge road last year... how you see it in the picture is how it looks now... except is has no rear springs... (thanks Posies... )

The Plymouth... yeah, same car. That's Paul, and since he is the star of the flier, he had better show up. I snapped that shot outside of Fool's Bar the night of the Pile Up last year.

I RSVPed already to a local car party on that same day. :( Sure would rather head to chris's and make a nice long weekend. I'll talk to Roadstar this weekend and see what he wants to do. Thanks for the invite.

We will at least see you guys the following weekend when you come to town for Billetproof. Chris PM'ed me and made arrangements for all you guys to stay here at the house. It's gonna be a blast!

Thanks for putting up the party info 35PU. As far as room, I've got a big field behind the house to park cars, unless we get too much rain. Then it could be a little wet back there. Either way, we've got the driveway, yard, sidewalk (usually for bikes), and the rest of the block. We'll find somewhere to put ya. Green Goblin, you want a ride.....shit, that cruise night last year I was pretty stinko and gave the keys to just about anyone who I thought could drive a stick. My car may not be on the front lawn either. I think I've talked ol' Uncle Bud into bringing out his beautifully restored A coupe, and we got the motor back in Silent Rick's '46 last night. Rick says I have to sign an appearance contract though to get the car there. Something about a guaranteed spot on the front lawn, resposibility for any and all damages that may occur on the way to, during, and on the way home from the party, and lots of diet Pepsi. Failure to comply will result in a confrontation with Bighands Norm and that guy from Miami Subs last year that just wouldn't shut up. I can't wait.

Man would I ever LOVE to go, but I'm just coming back from a vacation on the 2nd and theres a big show at McCormick Place that I'm working. I will be at the Hunnert Cile Pile Up if I have to shoot, stab, mutilate or kidnap somebody or sell my soul to satan. Any of you guys have any metal work knowledge. I have a 53 Pontiac 2DR HT that has a mild dent in the passenger side door I would like some help in trying to work it out. I hope to have my car ready by the end of June.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Incidentally, I live on the Southeast Side of Chicago right by Wolf Lake if that helps. I'll wrap myself in garbage bags so I dont get anything dirty if I could have a ride in that Plymouth.

I'd probably end up getting you into the nicer part of Gary, In if I gave you directions...

I'd say get into Illinois and take 294 South toward Indiana. 294 will bring you right into 80/94 toward Indiana. Kennedy Ave is the third exit into Indiana... take that South... follow what I wrote in the opening post and you're there.

Bummer, Hellfish... It would be nice to give a little back to the Chrome Czar guys. I guess that means Chris has to have another party... :)

It's hard to say how many. Seems like we get a few more every year. Just keep in mind that this is at my house and not a parking lot or fairgrounds kind of event. So far, I'm pretty sure we've got UB's restored A, Berto's '52 Lincoln, Pauls custom Plymouth (on the flier), Rick's chopped, chanelled, Desoto Hemi powered '46 Ford, my heap, Mikes Hellcamino, and maybe Jeremy's fresh 427 in the '66 fairlane. We usually get several bikes, a couple Cushmans, and Jack's bringing his wicked hand fabbed not-so-mini chopper (in progress). I gave out many a flier and we put it out here for you guys, so we'll see what shows up!

... the Hellcamino is a maybe at this point... I gotta rebuild the rear yet...

...add to the above totals a 10" tire 69 Chevelle, a blown 66 GTO, a custom harley or two. AND, flyers handed out to a whole club worth of rodders. There should be a good group of cars there.

Hell, he's got it lucky... when his Dad was our age and his car used to stall... he would have to push it up hill both ways.

(that little 302 sounds mean, but I don't think it has much power on hills) :D

That little 302 does just fine as long as it has a consistent supply of fuel. When we finally coasted it to the Mejier lot on the other side, we practically started a new hang out. My car, Berto's Lincoln, Tony's farm truck, and Frank's HD with the apes all sitting under the light so we could look the car over. After a while I noticed a few sport truck guy's hanging together about 100 feet away.

51Ratt, it is what it is. If the weather is good, we should have a good turnout. Just don't show up expecting the Hunnert Car Pileup. This isn't limited to just pre-'65 or traditional cars only. And it's technically not even a show. If coming down Sunday doesn't seem worth your while, go with us to Billetproof Detriot next week. And finish your car!

Moontripper, swing on by man. Bring the little lady. Hell, you practically work across the street. We'll give custom advise if you get me advise on getting the water mains, sewers, and street redone on my block ;) . (I swear we have a water main break in that neighborhood every couple months.........I know, job security) Just bring your drinkin' shoes.

Chris beat me to it... to make it easier... I'll be wearing a 'Mikey Rules' t-shirt... look for me, or just ask anyone hanging out by the cars for Chris.

    Small world, huh?

-with all of this talk of 'drinking shoes' I might have to make a pair.... just think of the possibilities....
