He're a cool collection of old TV auto ads, including Mopar, GM, Ford, AMC, VW... even some old LA Cal Worthington spots. Don't miss the hilarious 1961 Oldsmobile musical extravaganza starring Missus Brady herself, Florence Henderson. Requires (free) Real Player. http://www.tvparty.com/vaultcomm.html
No kidding... awesome find! I love stuff like this... a friend of mine had some old 40's and 50's GM radio commericals on a tape of his.... very cool to listen to that old radio advertising. Except I gotta get RealPlayer again, but it's worth it. THanks for the link.
If you like this sort of stuff, another one of my favorite websites is http://www.ephemeranow.com Tons of vintage 40s/50s/60s car ad art.
Anyone remember the Javelin commerical where the old man comes home with a new Javelin? The old man's son goes out to take a look at it and take it for a ride. He returns a while later with fat tires and a blower sticking out of the hood. Must have been around 1967 or '68. Anyone as old as me on this board? ha!
not really a commerical, but this is some 1955 chevy promo spots i have on my computer: 55 chevy spots
Those are some classy commercials, they don't do them like that anymore... My favorite commercials will always be the ones with the truck that has $2500 cash back with a low 0.9% financing and the most towing capacity, torque, HP, and cup holders in its class. You know, the one that is "built tough," just "like a rock" so that you can "grab life by the horns." You don't come across clever marketing like that nowadays!
mike been wondering for a while now are you from around sioux city...cause are local mech.teacher at the central campus Mr. Zenor told me to tell you Hi..
Hey JRussell - I am indeed from around Sioux City (Lawton to be exact) and your teacher, "Mr. Zenor," is my cousin Scott. Give my regards to him and Mrs Zenor (Marla).
WTF !!!! When I try to open one of the commercials, I get a message that says they can't locate Acrobat Reader 4.0.Ink. I searched on Google and on the Acrobat Reader sites, but got no hits. I downloaded Acrobat Reader 6.0, hoping it would be in there, but nadda. What does this old PC moron gotta do to view these things???? I'd sure appreciate anybody's help.
