I'm trying to identify this radio as a dealer install Chev part or what. also is this interior original? Again I was told this car was unmolested, not even a date.

Radio doesn't look original, doesn't look like a chevy radio at all.

Hard to tell on the rest of the inside, I don't recall what the original cloth looked like. The gage under the dash is an add on, you probably know that.

How can the interior look that nice and yet the door jamb seems to have a bit of an issue?

Maybe plastic covers like at Grams house?

That interior has been re-done. Radio is like nothing I've ever seen in a Chevrolet. There is some rust at the hinges...

I don't see anything wrong with the door jambs.

If the interior was original wouldnt the window garnish molding be the same color as the outside of the car?

The point being, this is NOT an original car. New upholstery, old rust, old carpets, blah, blah, blah.

55-150, if you found a car in SK with an interior like that, the rest of the car should look just as good, like it's been under glass for 56 years. It doesn't.

note this is a Canadian built car so it may have had not so common materials. The side chrome is that of a 210 but this is a 150 and it looks to me as original from factory because of the holes. I'd add pictures to this as we go but don't know how yet. I may have to start new just to get you pictures. The tag says Model 12-11, body serial # 11759, trim 625, engine # 135376 and paint 55K

I know it has had had spot repairs due to accidents but really this car is exceptional. NO rust. I have had it on a hoist and there is no rust under it. The spots where you would expect rust(rockers) zip nothing! inside the fenders above the headlights is where I dug out half a gallon of mud and rocks but only superficial rust.

Rubber is correct floor for a 150. Surprised it has a heater. The radio could have been some dealer add-on, but a 150 would have been radio-delete, I believe. It's not a factory radio.

the window rubber is cracked up so I think it leaks water on the passenger side. The lower side kick was wet the morning after I drove it in the rain.

Radios were optional, many were installed by the dealer. No such thing as "radio delete" back then. And there were several companies making aftermarket radios, and some folks just made whatever they could find fit into the car, which is likely what happened here.

I would expect almost every car in Canada to have a heater. I would not expect many to have ac. Dealers installed a lot of heaters back then too.

I had it appraised by Ken Giesbrecht of Aberdeen,Sk, he stated this car is the best original 55 in his 35 years of appraising.

I don't see anything in the pics that looks like it's not original, aside from the radio and gage. But we'd need to see a lot more pictures to be able to tell from this far away

I have the original "radio delete" plate that covered the hole in the dash where a radio was supposed to go, on my car. I understand what your saying about it being an option, but the cars were originally built with a hole in the cowl for an antennae, and a hole in the dash that was covered by that plate.... I don't know what else you'd call it?

The radio has an amp or something that has to warm up before it starts to play. When I turn it on it hums for a few seconds then you hear the radio playing.

I was told by a nearly 80 year old car nut the antenna was mounted 8-10 inches to far forward to be factory. When he walked up to the car he looked at it for a second or two and said it was a 150 then paused and said 210. I have to guess it was because of the side chrome but the tag does indicate it as a 150. The one other non factory item is the driver side mirror. id show you a picture or two more but don't know how to add them. HELP!

A better look at the radio in question.

Just read the whole thread. 150 with 210 trim outside you say. Can we get a shoot of the steering wheel or just tell us if it has a horn ring or just a center cap.

^^^^^ Thats 150 side trim, also note 55 only, front and rear glass gasket with no trim. 56 & 57 150's had window trim front and back. All 3 years of 150's had no beltline molding as seen here.

I had to start a new thread to get more pictures posted, sorry for the glitch.

  29. The interior fabric and stitching on the black vinyl looks to be redone, i do not recall that pattern either, but, overall with no rust and mostly unmolested, not many around like it, great find. I would hope it remains as is. Good luck with it.

  30. The zoom of the radio you see the faceplate has a curve on the bottom - it's made to fit some other car's dash. Not even an aftermarket job made to fit this car. If it was, you wouldnt be able to see behind that plate, it either would have a plate that fits better or none at all.

I don't think I've ever seen an outside mirror like that one on a '55 before, either, but those clamp-on ones are easy to change.
