Soak them down with some Kroil or another penetrating oil. Might even try a bit of heat on the king pin boss. One you get them free just work it back and forth and see if it steers smooth.

  4. You have an I beam, not a straight axle. There is a difference.

    Doc.

It's an I beam. Straight axles dont have the upturns on the ends to lower ride height. What you are thinking of are twin ibeam's. Argue less, read more.

As far as your issue, I would try also pumping some grease into the grease fittings along with soaking it. I would also pull the drums off the hubs and try some not so gentle persuasion with a dead blow hammer to get it moving by hitting the hub sides. if it still wont budge, order a king pin kit and drop it all off at the machine shop to have them replaced as the king pins are junk anyways. I am all about doing stuff on the cheap but safety is paramount.

    Easy now

  9. I have also had success taking the zerk fittings out and pumping in a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF to dissolve the old grease and corrosion. I'll warn you in advance that it isn't an instant cure, but with patience, it can free up the worst of them! :)
