I bought my first one for $900, and was very happy with the price- it was 16', an old roundy-rounder trailer with a very low deck, dual axle with brakes on one wheel and decent tires. If the deck is bad or the tires are shot, you've gotta add that cost to the price- $500 is beyond a good deal if it's ready to go. Most I've seen just had brakes on one axle, a lot of boat trailers don't have any  Any boat or RV repair shop will have the complete backing plate ***emblies in stock to add more brakes, and they aren't that expensive- it's cheaper to buy a whole new setup than to buy the parts to rebuild one.
I hauled my '55 F100 to a swap in Vallejo on the old trailer, and a guy wanted the truck, then asked if I'd consider selling the trailer too for an extra $1000- I had gotten 10 yrs out of it and had been putting off buying tires for it for a while, pocketed the cash and followed him to his place in Petaluma :D

I'd grab it before the word gets out and someone flashes $800 before him. Still a steal at under $1500 if it's in decent shape.

Really ! If this guy had ANY sense at all, or knew what he's looking for / getting, he'd have never even asked this question.

No - it's not worth it. AT ALL. Go find another one. Don't buy this.

    Even w/o a pic it's a deal !!

If it has 3500 lb axles and not trailer house axles on it go for it as long as the paperwork holds up. If it only has brakes on one axle the brakes shouldn't be that expensive to add to the other axle if you want to.

not worth it if you don't need it. do you haul a lot of cars around? i'm in the business and always thought it was more cost effective to have a tow company move something for me, using their state of the art equipment, their time, and insurance. trailors are for incomplete cars only.

Did you really just ask that question?

  7. well thks for the comments, i appreciate the feed back (well at least most of it) it confirmed my gut instinct that it was a good deal. perhaps i could have asked the original question differently. i looked at the trailer and it seemed like a solid deal for the money so i bought it. As i said before i have never owned a trailer and wanted to make sure that there was no hidden high costs involved that i didnt consider. turns out its a 16" trailer, i know it needs lights and wiring attention, and i am not sure of the brakes on the one axle, it turns out the previous owner never used them so i need to do some inspection. the one fender is banged up but thats a couple of hours of work, and it needs a new coat of paint and im thinking of spraying the fenders but everything else will get rustoleum brushed on. it also has a break away brake set up that i am guessing is toast at this point. can i charge those batteries with a motorcycle charger ? how long do the those batteries usually last? i am guessing it hasnt been charged in many years. I am excited not to have to pay any more tow charges to move my projects around and spend hours waiting for people to show up.

so here it is , thks bob
