I have to agree with that statement. I race LSR and a rainy day there beats a sunny day sitting in a lawn chair. Just sayin.

I don't think it had anything to do with the politicians. A Rhinebeck club member says that attendance has been lagging for the last several years. If its anyone grubbing the money its GG's .

I personally am very pleased that the show is moving to the Eastern States Exposition Fairgrounds and wish them great success. It will be nice to attend a show without having to drive for hours to get to there.

Poor attendance is money grubbing? What clueless statements.

You did answer the problem. Poor attendance means you have to try for better attendance.

  6. It sure helps me , that still leaves 2 major events in that area of N.Y. if I'm not mistaken.

    Help - please.

Being that this change in location is a done deal. For those of us who don't know the area at all, could anyone familiar with the location suggest some quality places to stay, and dine.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe we could find out where the Goodguys staff is staying?

  8. I would probably go over the line into Connecticut for a hotel or motel and a good meal.
Windsor, Vernon, and Manchester have some nice facilities that I have stayed in many times and also has some superb restaurants.
Connecticut is less than a half hour away and more inviting than anything I've tried in Springfield.
I used to make a 4 day deal out of Rhinebeck with my hot rod buddy's.
We soaked in the Hudson Valley atmosphere to the max.
Springfield is not the same so I plan to try it once but will only go up for one day.
I wish G.G. all the luck in the world with this new venue but my heart isn't in this Springfield plan.
I hope another organization grabs the Rhinebeck location so we can all return there again.
This is a big loss for many of us.

  10. Turn left out of anyone of the gates, drive south on rt75. Only about 8 miles until you cross into Conn. Plenty of very nice hotels in Windsor Locks, CT by the airport, or go a little further (next town) down rt75 to Windsor, two very nice hotels at the beginning of Day Hill Road. No one has to stay in Mass. at all. CT. is so close by with plenty of good food and safe hotels.

The trip from the gates to Windsor Locks is about 12 minutes and goes through Agawam, Mass, Suffield, CT and then into Windsor Locks. Not a far trip, all nice black top roads, easy.

I live in Suffield, it is a very nice area.

Please...you've been to Rhinebeck once and now you say "theres alot more at the BP every other thursday"?
So the 25 or so cars that anyone wants to see at any given night at the BP compares to the cars that were at Rhinebeck???
You're just showing your ignorance about this topic Jim...get off the drama wagon.

Keep in mind the Big E is in west springfield. I know its next door to springfield but there is a difference. Also if your looking for safer places to stay, look into the Northampton Ma area or Amherst area. These areas are 25 minuts north from the big e and practicaly have no or little crime. There are many hotels in Hadley and Amherst Ma. These are large towns not cities, Northampton technicly is a city but small. I think most people would feel comfortable with there rods parked at night at a hotel in these areas. Umass amherst, Smith college, Amherst college and mount holyoke college all around 10-15 miles of each other. These are pretty weatlthy and clean areas.

I live about 15 min from the Big E.

If I was looking for a hotel i'd stay in Enfield CT.
The Hampton Inn in Enfield is about a year old that would be your best bet.
Enfield is safe with tons of places to eat/shop etc.

It's a easy drive through Suffield, Agawam and then on to West Springfield.

That way your never messing with Springfield's traffic and bridges.

    Hope this helps.

  22. Rhinebeck is BACK!
The latest news on a similar thread states the Hudson Valley Club is taking up the slack and doing Rhinebeck at the end of July.
More news to follow and the flier is already circulating.
It's great that this club stepped up to the plate and is making all the arrangements to continue this wonderful event at a top notch location.
Goodguys really dropped the ball on this one but it's good to see others moving in to take advantage of a great situation with even greater potential for a huge show if run by the right kind of car people.

Yeah, come on back to Rhinebeck. Without Good Guys being involved anymore, the price to enter a car will probably be the same as the May Dust-Off; which is $10 if you pre-register. Big difference, huh?

Not only that, if the HV Street Rods can bring in the swap meet that is there in May, it will blow the doors off the Goodguys so-called swap meet, which is more about new vendors like Billet Specialties, and Flowmaster... yuck. I'd rather rummage through pitted chrome and old speed equipment...

I don't think the fairgrounds can be had for much less. It's an expensive venue with the new management. I can handle 20 bucks a day. Smaller shows charge that much. I'm not in the club but I don't think they are trying to or are going to make a killing on this thing. I think its something a lot of people enjoyed and they want to keep it going. Thank you to HV Streetrods!

Does anyone know who the "Host Club" will be at the new Goodguys event in Springfield?

That could make a big impact on the sucess of the show.
