Olds 455 Dizzy

I am putting the engine together and realized I am missing the distributor.

Dumb question,But I have a brand new HEI for a SBC. Will it work? Or they completley different?

I know that they rotate different going in. I dont think that that makes a difference in HEI. What is the actual diiference in them. Online they are listed for 350-455 CI....

 

different rotation means advance mechanism won't.

 

Also the chevy is too long by about 2". The machined diameters are different, Different drive, chevy is slot and olds is hex drive, etc etc etc. They are not interchangable.

 

Ask yourself, how would the advance work if it's going backwards?

short deck 403 won't work either iirc. get on ebay or pony up at the parts store.

the guts are interchangeable.
