  3. Sure has quieted down on this thread! All the cars on here are AMAZING. My '56 is still in progress, coating it down in some primer and panel paint asap. Whoever painted the car before me really made a mess of things, the paint is coming off to bare metal in HUGE thick plastic-like chunks, primer and paint combined. I'm almost unsure as to how to prep, whether I should strip it all down to bare metal or just sand it as best as I can. As for the drivetrain, I've decided to hold off on throwing a big block in it and I'm gonna keep the 270 in it (which will hopefully be rebuilt this winter). I snagged 3 stromberg 97's off of craigslist and plan on doing a 3x2 setup. Just need the intake. With all that said, here's a picture of my car, and my dog, Nico.

I don't know about others but the economy has kicked me in the butt (mostly in the wallet!!) Can't believe I have had my 55 for 2 years and all I have done is collect some parts. Hopefully I can find some time this Fall/Winter to get some stuff done.

  6. Sent him a PM a few days ago, have yet to get a response.

We've finally started working on our '55 Royal Lancer. One quick question.. I found a 66-67 charger axle for sale, will it work? I can't afford and wider track, as the tires are very close to the 1/4s as-is.

The B body rear should fit the '55 pretty well. You'll have to move the spring perches, but its been done before by other members on here. I think MrBelvedere2 has one in his '56. It should also give you a parking brake on the axle, which is good if you're changing the transmission too.

I also believe the only thing that's likely to be in that Charger is an 8 3/4, pretty sure thats too early for a 7 1/4. If it's not an 8 3/4 though, don't bother. 7 1/4's are pretty much useless, they weren't even really strong enough for the slant 6's.

hey all, hope i'm posting this right...
stoked to find this thread. I've got a 56 dodge pickup and my kid's got a 56 coronet. bought the pickup after hearing tales of my grandpa driving his 56 pickup as a push truck every weekend at the Portland Speedway in the late 50's early 60's. kind of a way to honor his memory and spirit now that he's gone. trying to add some pics, their not the best but it gives you an idea. hope it works.
    cheers..

  13. Thumbs up to all of you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us. I just picked up a 56 Belvedere a couple of months ago and wouldn't even know where to start if it wasn't for forums like this.

My friend has a 56 Cornet, replaced the red ram when it got so tired with a 440 / 727. Don't tell him, but it's quick! :) What we would like to do is add disc brakes on the front without clipping the frame. Any ideas? I'll post pictures as soon as I can get some. This swap was done 15 years ago or more.

While I'm at it, I'm looking for a couple parts:
    Driver side fender
    passenger door
Trunk floor panel, mainly the rear section.

If it is tailshaft mounted make sure all is well and apply it well, if backing plate applied, try to park facing downhill as usually only one shoe applied and it will creep backwards but not forward.

I second the suggestion to check out ECI. A decent price and seems to be quality parts. Milled aluminum, complete hubs, blah blah blah. You might post out in the big bulletin board and see if anybody has experience with it. I plan on spending the $635 to convert mine, when I can scrape the cash together. Maybe Santa Claus is listening.....

Here's the link to the Mopar conversions.

Bought this one for the boy 6 or 7 years ago, he pulled the grille and started rounding up a few pieces and repair panels, along came a 57 and this one got abandoned. It's soon to be crusher food.. If anyone needs anything, pm me
