That one big bolt is stronger than the two spring shackle bolts on each side of a regular set-up. I'm a Rugby player, so I do have big leather balls. The large bushings spread the load. I'm not worried at all about it breaking. The axle will be captured all the way around when I'm done, so it's not going anywhere. It will have traditional '40 Ford split wishbones. Part of the problem with progress pics is that you see something half-baked and it looks like it won't work.
I might twist another Eavilboydcoupe's arm to do something???? I will get some photos in soon. Have fun building and keep us posted on your progress. Sandman Barons So.Texas[/QUOTE] Well here is what I'm playing with. Early 60's rail with a 327 and a power glide. I will do my best to get her together for the HAMB drags. See you there. "Maybe one of them a has a pic or two of their s**** pile." It's still a pile until I can get the '46 Chevy truck out of the garage and scrounge up another mig. r
I've posted this before, but it's Elmer "Unsprung" Snyder's dragster. It was built in the 50's and still being raced as of 1998.
Of course, there is a difference with Unsprung's axle. The pivot is on a plate welded above the axle which spreads the load and he has a truss arrangement under the axle which also spreads the load.
I decided the old coil spring suspension (that came with the frame) ****ed. I brought out the "hot wrench" and cut off that ****.
Lookin good Randy. I fired the motor Friday with good oil pressure. Sounds good. This week I will be working on making plumbing to the radiator and getting the idler and a belt on it. We're cookin now. Brad
My step daughter died and then I found out my mom has a brain tumor. It's been hard to justify the time working on a car, around my house.
Rand Man,,, my thoughts an prayers are with you and yours bro Cars will always be there when you get done what needs doing.
Recycler worked on the carb, clutch, radiator and headers, etc. I worked on the brakes, steering, seat, etc.
Looks fun! Don't forget to put some serious protection around the drive shaft... and a floor/belly pan and firewall in it. Anyone else making progress on a HAMB digger? Sam.
