Thinking of hitting the road next summer and going to a gg show. Being in mn obviously des moines comes up. I've been there. Looking to travel a little father. Any suggestions??
I believe I would do the INDY GoodGuys If I were you. It is at the famous Speedway ... and Indy the town is large enough to not be over run by the event. Most car events are overrun at the Motels ( higher rates ) and packed full places to eat. The Museum @ the Speedway is great and you get to make a lap around the famous race track and cross the bricks. Been there ... done that .
I have been to a number of GG events all over the US. Columbus is the biggest and best (because of size and variety). The best fairgrounds I think is Des Moines and if you really want to drive then Puyallup. I am heading down to Az in nov, for my first time so do not know about that one.
I was blown away by the number of "our" style cars there were at puyallup, Wa. Plus the amocat deal and all that I had a blast. Plus I saw the Doug Rice 39 and that ruled.
Loveland Co is a great show. Nice venue, nice people. KC is at the end of August in a race track. It can be way hot and there is no shade.
I agree with Deuce Roadster ... here's a bit of what you missed at this year's GG INDY event: <EMBED height=360 type=application/x-shockwave-flash width=640 src=http://www.youtube.com/v/FNyBE2tUxZc?version=3&hl=en_US allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always">
Altho GoodGuy's Scottsdale (Arizona) is a good venue, it's in mid November...very late summer...!!!It's on the equestrian field (gr***) and the vendors are on the asphalt. Phoenix has a couple of good cruise spots on Friday and Saturday nites since there isn't anything going on via GG's those nites. The cruise to the local hot rod shops is also good...and of course, the temps in November are always t-shirt weather (altho some residents think 70 degrees is cold)... R-
NHRA Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green,Kentucky puts any Greedyguys show to shame. It is held on Fathers day weekend.Best dragstrip I've ever seen.
I would also say Iowa. We have fall and spring shows in Scottsdale. Alot of snowbirds show up. Some come in the fall and leave there car down here for the spring show.
Columbus is big, but big is not always best. I love Charlotte N.C. in the fall great venue at Lowes Motor Speedway, and the best part is 3 laps around the track and part of your entry fee. That is what does it for me to travel over 600 miles to get there.
Why did you even reply? Your reply has nothing to do with what I asked. Good guys is a business, so what? I like their shows no matter what they cost. Unless you have a suggestion for which gg show I should check out, just keep your thoughts to yourself.
